New LPN starting Correctional job tomorrow! HELP!
I graduated in August and feel so nervous to put my nursing skills to the test. I need some words of encouragement. I will be starting my first nursing job tomorrow at a Correctional Facility.Night Shift. Can anyone give me some insight on what I might be able to expect? This facility is like the 'go to' place for inmates with any physical, mental, health disorder for the entire state. It's basically a hospital for sick inmates. Words of advice??

Thanks for the reply. I went to MTSU for awhile so I wasnt sure if it was like that or not. In the sense of picking your own instructors and choosing the length in between classes. So it's basically like High School. You have to ask to go to the restroom, You're told when to eat and DRAMA. Thanks for all the info.:)

Question. For those of you already enrolled, What does your class schedule look like? What class and what times? When do you lunch? Do you get to choose these things or are they chosen for you? Can you pick your instructor? Just trying to get a general idea of what I can expect in September. Thanks!

TTC Nashville LPN September Class
So.....I read that we have to pay for our books and fees at registration. How are we supposed to do that if we have to wait for Financial Aid? There would be no way I could go to school if I had to do that because I have a 6 month old and have to pay for daycare also. I hope I get enough financial aid. I don't mind having to wear Khakis and Polos as long as I get to go. Times are tough and if you don't have a solid career you basically have to live paycheck to paycheck. Definitely nervous about it now!

Question for those of you enrolled with Financial Aid. How did you go about purchasing books? Did they give out a book voucher?

Students at MTSU?
I personally have never been in the nursing program at MTSU. However, I have friends there trying to get in it. It's very competitive. You don't automatically get into it. You have to basically take classes that you would need for nursing and compete to get in with your grades. There are lots of people trying to get into it. Some even change their major, because it's not worth the wait. It might have changed this year, but as far as I know it's been like that for the past 2 years.

Is anyone applying for Financial Aid? Have you got an award letter yet? Just wondering, cause I applied and wasn't sure when we would get a letter.

The orientation/interview went great today!(TTC Nashville) 75% is your Compass Scores, 25% College Credits,Experience, etc. They said 75 spots are available for September classes. Clinicals will be held anywhere from Baptist to UMC in Lebanon to Hendersonville to Murfreesboro. Acceptance letters sent out by June 18. Interviews were really easy. We filled out a questionnaire and then the interviewers(which mostly weren't even LPN's) ask questions from that. It's like 6-8 in the room being interviewed separately. Total interview time for each person was under 5 mins a piece. Anyone else go today? Any questions? I still have the packet so I might be able to answer them. OH Yea! New rules for clinicals. All females must wear the white hats!

Yea they do but the packet has to be done by March 25. Has anyone else noticed that the orientation date on the website is May 27?

What is everyone wearing to orientation? I think interviews are being held too. Casual? Business? Scrubs? I'm not quite sure what to wear. But I'm definitely not wearing heels as we will probably take a tour. I've heard we might meet some of the administration, so maybe business casual is safe bet.
