Application for UH Manoa
Hi everyone, I am aiming to apply for Spring Admission to UH Manoa Nursing. However, I'm trying to find out more on what will give me a competitive application. I tried asking the department specific questions, but all they would do is refer me to the website (doesn't tell me anything new since I read it like 10 times). I'm finishing my AA in Liberal Arts at WCC this semester. By the end of the summer I will have completed all prerequisites except for the micro lab, and i have a dp science (geog) but I got a C, so will they count that if I have Micro and am currently enrolled in another dp during application process? If everything goes right I will have a 3.67 prerequ and 3.3 cum. If however I retake a FS course (Phil for my Math) during the summer then I'll have a 3.79 prerequ. On their site it says they take no consideration is supporting courses completed. So, does most of their selection solely focus on prerequ gpa? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Becoming a nurse as an Air Force wife
Thanks for the input coconutzz and medic, I'm glad to hear from people who have been through it. Props to you coconutz for doing that on your own, its gives inspiration for other people doubting themselves. Medic- that is what I'm thinking, the stability of staying in one place and having my family in Hawaii there with me could be beneficial to my education and future. It would benefit us financially, because he wants to go on deployment and tours (mostly b/c he hates this place so much), and we could be putting money away while I live with family in Hawaii. I'm just worried that i could be sacrificing our marriage's stability. I feel like I'm choosing between the two. I know I can do it (be separated for 3 years), but I feel guilty for leaving, and well we've been having rocky roads in the relationship, but that's kinda the norm for us. I'm glad you guys brought up the BSN part, so many people say that it doesn't matter, but from what I've been seeing with new RNs having difficulty finding jobs, I think I need that advantage.

Becoming a nurse as an Air Force wife
I see this hasn't been active for a while, but I would really like some insight on a tough decision I may need to make. My husband just got his first station 3 months ago, and we are originally from Hawaii. I am currently finishing pre requs and plan on applying for Spring entry to UHawaii, and a CC here, and if I dont make those, Fall entry for a university here. We are trying to decide that if I get in to a program in Hawaii, that I should go back, which would be for 3 years. In that time he plans to volunteer for deployment and tour. We both really dislike living here, San Antonio. It's a tough transition from Hawaii. The only thing is the separation which is a major strain. I'll be able to visit in the summers, but still, its 3 years. Also, the possibility that he could suddenly get orders to PCS, or if he gets deployed and I'm here by myself i would be miserable. Or I can wait and hope I get acceptance here, and tough it out. Does anyone have experience being separated for such a long period of time?
