FYI, I do have my BSN with ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications. And I'm looking to know if anyone is interested in doing the same. A partner in crime would ease my nerves for sure ☺ Lastly, in regards to which hospitals may be in my best interest, what are the average ratios, etc? Since this will be my first travel assignment I'd prefer housing close to the hospital (walking distance) until I can get used to the subway system and all.

Hi guys, I'm a 29 year old single female with a 15lb shih tzu and almost 4 years experience in nursing - 1 year in medsurg (Phoenix, AZ), 2 years in NeuroTelemetry/NeuroStepdown (Delray Beach, FL), plus about 6 months of floating daily to all units (Delray Beach, FL) - cardiactele, medsurg, medtele, direct admit, surgical care, cardiac stepdown, surgortho, surgical stepdown, trauma stepdown, etc (excluding any ICUs). I'm looking into finally taking a big girl step 👣 into the world of traveling. I'm nervous but after floating for 6 months I now feel I have the strength and the skills to succeed. I'm a great people person and love to travel. I think this might be a good thing for me but won't know until I try, right? 😊 I'm looking to grow as a nurse and a person. It'll be nice to experience a new environment and make new connections. I'm thinking of starting possibly during the spring time in preferably the Manhattan 🗽 area if possible for 13ish week contracts depending on what's available, then maybe Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, and San Diego (and not necessarily in that order). Who knows, if I love it maybe even more places or lengthier contracts 😀 I'm trying to find out my best option for signing with various agencies, housing options, applying for state license, best hospitals, what I should look for and question, etc. Any info/input would be greatly appreciated! I know how you feel. I just got my rejection email too How irritating this whole process is! I'm beginning to feel like I went to school and busted my butt for 5 years for nothing. As for the Mayo Clinic, the lady told me as well as a few others that they prefer to hire nurses who have done clinicals/preceptorships/internships there, so I knew I was immediately at a disadvantage. Anyhow, I guess now it's on to the next one for us, ugh. Good luck to you Tasha!

No phone call yet for me either Neither have I received a rejection letter (not that I want one) nor a change in status on my application. This is unbelievably frustrating and I can't focus on anything else but my darn phone. I wonder how far they've gotten with regards to making phone calls and filling the positions??? I'd have to say though, I'm still happy I haven't gotten that dreaded email (fingers crossed). Without that email it means we've still got a chance :clpty:

Tasha, have you checked yet to see if your application status has changed at all within the last day or so? I wonder if that will change before or after we get our response......

This is puuuuuuuuuuuure torture :anbd: I feel like I'm walking on eggshells all day long and my nerves are getting the best of me. Hopefully we will get a good news phone call soon Tashacorinne :anpom:

Congratulations KatsieRN!!! How exciting! I really hope that I receive a phone call soon. The anticipation is driving me crazy! When did you 1st hear from them about being accepted into the program? I wonder how long it will take them to extend all of the offers.... Anyhow, what unit and shift did you happen to get scheduled on?

Thanks TashaCorinne! Just like yourself I also said days, but ultimately if it came down to it I would have no preference. And the 3 floors I chose were: 1) med/surg focusing on hematology/oncology and bone marrow transplants 2) med/surg focusing on neurosciences, ENT and plastic surgery 3) med/surg/palliative care focusing on gynecological and general surgery, GI medicine and surgery As for living in AZ, yes I have been for almost 4 months now. I moved from FL back in July because my boyfriend got transferred here and I had finally finished up nursing school (whew!). Anyhow, this wait should be very interesting. Even if we were to get a phone call I wonder what unit and shift they'd assign us to, hmmmmmmm??? It's so exciting to think about actually getting that phone call, yet on the other hand it's also really scary to think about receiving that dreaded email. I want this job sooooooooo badly. What 3 units did you pick?

Hey guys :) I also interviewed with them on October 10th. Interviewing is always so nerveracking and I haven't had much experience with it either so that doesn't help me out much. Although I do feel this one went much better since it wasn't a five person panel interview. I'm sure you guys feel the same way but this wait is killing meeeeeeeeeee :) I've been waiting now for four weeks and every time I get an email notice or unknown phone call it makes my heart stop. As for the pay, the lady told me it would be $21.25/hr for the first month and then in February it would go up to $27.75/hr, then after you hit the year mark it shoots to $31.25/hr, and this was strictly for day shift. I think night gets another $6 or $6.50 in differential. I was pretty happy to hear all of that considering my friends in south FL are getting started out at $22ish. Which shift did you pick, day or night?
