  1. One of my husband's friends/co-worker is a full-time RN at a hospital and a part-time paramedic where my husband works, and he loves it! He enjoys the most of having the best of both worlds from each job. Both are similar but very different in their respective roles. I say go for it if it is something you'll enjoy. Best wishes! :)
  2. First of all, why are you worrying about what some internet poster says or not says? Why is this bothering you? Does it involve you in someway? Why are you allowing others to influence your thoughts and actions. Unless you were the poster of the comment, how does this concern you? Secondly, when in nursing school, the only person you should be worried about is yourself. I'm not saying to not care about others, cuz i know we do and will. But, as a nursing student, yourself should be number one. You are the one who is going to be doing the exams, labs and clinicals and work...not some random classmate. Worry about yourself before you start worrying about what other people think and say. And, don't let them influence your decisions and thoughts. :)
  3. Rediculous! Don't believe in everything what your instructors say. Because of one, comment you are re-thinking your whole life and career? I certainly would not allow one person to have that much power over my decisions. After all, they are my decisions, not my instructors. LOL
  4. This is something you get over or you won't. Don't beat yourself up over this. Be yourself! Believe in yourself and act confident, even if you aren't. Don't let your negative self-talk to get the better of you. Sometimes, we need to push ourselves out of our comfort zones to allow ourselves to experience and learn what we need to learn in life. We may not like it, but it allows us to grow. Only you know what you need to change within yourself. Obviously, you recognize what your issue is. It is up to you and only you, to change or not change it. I am sure there are many shy and quiet nurses out there who aren't as outgoing as others may be, and they are very successful in what they do each day. Just because one is quiet and shy doesn't mean that one can or cannot do ones job, and do it well. :)
  5. Congrats! I begin my nursing program in the Fall 2012. :anpom:
  6. Have you tried contacting those schools you have mentioned for information? That would be your best source to get the information that you need. You might want to post this in the New York state regional forums too. Hope this helps :)
  7. IMO, I would say stick it out, if you can stand it. There are so many different areas to work in, in nursing. You don't have to work in a hospital if you don't want to. Try and remember the reasons why you wanted to become a nurse, use those positive thoughts to help fuel yourself through nursing school. No, it is not easy. But, it is doable. You CAN do it. Only you will know how much you want this or not. Please don't make the mistake of leaving nursing school and then regretting it later on. Think about this thoroughly, before you act on it. :)
