  1. During the clinical portion of my CNA class, I specifically was rotated on both the Dementia & Total Dependency floors where there are a lot of sundowning patients. We would break for lunch 30 minutes and your nicest, most grateful resident may hate your existence when you came back or just confuse you with someone they had a traumatic history with earlier in their life. The cool thing about seeing people make severe turns in a minute's time is it forces you to be creative in your care because what may have worked before won't work this time around. You also learn that there are ways to feel the job is rewarding beyond hearing the words "Thank You" with resistive and combative residents. Not sure if my response helps at all but hopefully some people connect to it.
  2. Well I am a guy...but good to know? Thanks for the info, I heard about the place by Lutheran from a large handful of people, I'll check it out once finals wrap up. You took the class there? Any tips?
  3. Nice to meet you, I'm at Oakton too. Thanks for the tip, I want to try some on in a store first but I will take a look at that site. See you in class!
  4. Chamberlain uses the HESI exam for prospective students. Which CC's did you apply to? Chamberlains admissions are more competitive the longer you wait to apply and that tends to peak during certain months with their weird trimesters.
  5. Hey all, I need to purchase some white scrub pants for my CNA clinicals this summer & have no idea where a good place would be to get them. I'm on the North Side Suburbs, but I'll make the trip if necessary to try stuff on & get the best price/quality. Any recommendations where to get them? Also, on a side note do you have any favorite male/unisex brands? Thanks for all your help!
  6. Taking A&P II over summer is suicidal I've heard. It's basically long lecture/lab, quiz next day, long lecture/lab, practical next day, long lecture/lab, exam. Rinse & Repeat. Since the content is more in depth than the general stuff that's easier to memorize in A&P1 you can really screw yourself by slacking one day.
  7. My situation is A&P 1, Honors Organic Chem, Cultural Anthropolgy & then Sociology. I think 16 credits total? Two sciences is tough, I did it last semester too with Gen Chem & Bio. I work 3-4 shifts a week bartending which can suck sometimes during exam weeks. Before that I was on a year and a half hiatus from school to accept an Assistant GM position at the restaurant I was at following a horrible semester at UIC from working 45 hour weeks during an 18 credit hour semester. My family got hit hard financially and it was my time to step up and help out. Lesson learned school-wise though. I failed a few classes which was enough grounds for dismissal despite not being on any academic probation and having good standing prior to. Last fall I pulled straight A's my first semester back in Community College and was recommended by a professor into the Honors Program and earned President's Scholars (our Deans List) Despite this, I'm at around a 2.2 cumulative GPA, which I know sucks. I am hoping and praying to rock the entrance exam for our schools CNA course so I can get an A in an 8 credit course this summer and start getting field experience. I am a good test-taker, my ACT was a 27 without prep-courses so hopefully my NLN will help me out because as of now I can't see any school taking me with my record as stained as it is. This is my first post here so forgive the length and pleasure meeting you all!
