  1. Hi all! This question is for those who have completed nursing micro at uta through online-ap... The tests have been extremely difficult and extremely tricky... Absolutely ridiculous to say the least.... Since my class averages are in the mid to low 70s I'm sure they agree lol. Anyways... Today I received an email containing a review for the final from the professor.. Is this review true to what the exam holds or should I study more extensively than what has been presented? Thank you very much for your responses!!
  2. I would say if you are in at tarletan then go for it!!! Uta program is very difficult to get into and I know of several people with 4.0 and high hesi and have gone three cycles not getting onto The program!!! Not worth The risk if ur in somewhere else I u ask me :)
  3. Thank you shelly! With how detailed the tests are I didn't know what to expect with that..
  4. Hello all! I just wanted to give a quick update! I have now completed week two of online micro through uta and I am carrying an A :) for now at least... The course material is not what is difficult. What is difficult is the professor likes the gotcha game... Her questions are often aimed trying to trick the student which makes no sense to me... You have to be weary of what you are reading in her tests... I'll say this each time o have submitted a quiz I thought I knew I got 100 on it and it has never been the case... I know the material but I had to have gotten tripped up in the wording. So for all who are considering this course for next term take caution!!! You can do it but read SLOWLY!!! I will keep you all filled in as the course progresses! :)
  5. Hi mochachild! Do u have access to lab portion of micro yet?!? I still don't and did safety training 2 weeks ago!!
  6. Hello tejas03.. I am in the micro at uta too and wow bummer about the lab still!! I emailed my academic coach and asked if we would get an extension since we are three days in and still aren't able to access that half of the class... Im hoping they do cuz I have no idea what they are looking for in the lab potion and I want to b prepared an not rushed for the quiz.... I'll let u know what he says about the extension as soon as I hear back from him... I have taken the first lecture quiz and had the rest of the week reserved for lab but that's not happening apparently... Good luck on the class!
  7. Thank you so much that's a big relief!! I look forward to it!
  8. I guess I should have checked with someone beiges I spent the 210 on it I wish I could have saved that money! Thank you for your reply! Are the labs fairly easy to follow once you are able to access it? I cant even see the directions or questions or study guide it comes up as empty folder..It's so frustrating that we are day two and so far no one is able to access the lab portion even after completing the safety training and making the professor and academic coach aware of the issue...thanks again for your response.. I'm so nervous taking this course already and I don't want to get behind or stumped by this!
  9. hi all! i just started my micro at uta today. so far i cannot access the lab portion of the course. is this what the rest of yall experienced as well. i have already completed the lab safety training. i like to be ahead of the game and i dont want it to be friday before i have access to the labs. also im kind of confused about the lab portion. since i cant access it on blackboard i am looking at the labpaq disk and trying to figure out what are we going to be responsible for doing.. do we even need the materials that were provided in the box since we dont have a real microscope to look at the end result with? if someone could explain the lab portion of this course a little better i would greatly appreciate it. thank you all! i look forward to hearing from you
  10. Also I can't seem to find a lab manual listed for this class. Is it the one blue book and that's it for lecture and lab?
  11. There is one at tccd all online. What is the grading scale at uta 90 and up is A or is it different?
  12. Just a quick FYI I spoke with the registrar from Lamar yesterdayanf they Said the September class will b full before the aug deadline... Thank you so much for the advice! Did you take the micro online? I'm Having serious issues trying to decide if I should do it....
  13. thank you so much for your quick response! could you by anychance tell me how many start dates they have?
  14. I have also read about her class that you don't need to even buy the book you need to memorize her notes...it's such a hard choice on whether or not to risk it. I have read from others that her final is not bad but I dont want to have to suffer all the way through a class to come out with a withdrawal or a bad grade. I am taking nutrition and public speech at tcc in addition to finishing up my lvn at Concorde all by august... I don't know if I would have the time that an A would require.... plz do keep me updated there is still a week left in case I change my mind :)
  15. If your not in a terrible time crunch you could take it at tccd they have online and traditional this fall... My problem is that I am in a time crunch which is why I was going to risk it.... But I think it's io much of a risk or me I want to keep my 4.0 for graduate school. It will just take me longer to get where I'm going but I have no choice and I will be ok with it as long as I am making some progress... But I researched the professors at tccd.. Don't take ****** I did have her and she was awful the one who offers the micro online in fall is supposed to b decent... Plus it is a third of the cost of uta good luck with what you decide I feel like this is best for me I can't stress about it anymore lol
  16. ok after reading another persons thread just now i have dropped the MICRO... all of the other horror stories plus hers has just flipped me. she took it online for the apbsn and said it was horrible, extremly difficult and disorganized. she said the tests were so difficult that a person majoring in micro would have a hard time answering them, that half her class has dropped the course and she is about to take her final and the best she can hope for is a C, which she has never had.....ohh geez looks like im back to square one. i dont want to mess up my gpa because i get into a rush.. hmmm now back to the dilemma do i try for uta straight through the bsn programs or should i lvn-rn bridge through lamar and then bridge through uta? im just glad i saw that post before i wasted my money and had a poor grade on my record...
  17. i am set to start on the 20th too! keep in touch and we can give eachother tips and support eachother getting through it. i decided to go ahead and take it i know if i put my mind to it i can do it. i have 4.0 and uta actually took my micro from another college. but lamar..the other college with the academic partnership, did not accept it so now i have to retake it! sucks thats 450 bucks out the window but the lamar lvn-rn is pretty much garunteed acceptance so it will be worth it to just get it out of the way. just be weary.. i went to rate your proffessor website and they tore her up! i guess she is very tricky and tries to catch you up on the little things. but with this being an online format i dnot know if she will be able to do the same things.... fingers crossed.. there is no other time to take the course online for the rest of the year...i have been searching everywhere trying to find an alternative and there is none....
  18. My micro question could apply to anyone willing to answer it :) i just saw mckinney mom speaking about it earlier in the db. Thanks all!
  19. @McKinney Mom Hi my name is amber. i am trying to do the lvn-bsn through academic partnerships at uta and lamar college. I am trying to decide if i should wait until i can go to school and take it or if i could handle it online. the teacher i am signed up with is *******. i guess she is the only micro teacher at uta. everyone has said she is very difficult but that was from traditional students. Could you tell me more about your experience and the difficulty level of the course?
  20. Thanks for the advice! I think I would b better off on campus then for sciences! Especially chem! does anybody know of a good professor at tcc for a&p my last one was a terror !! I'm closest to nw,ne, and tr campuses... Thanx all!
  21. hi all! i am currently awaiting an appointment with my advisor to even begin the online portion of the apbsn program. i am just curious tho, from those of you who have takin it...would you reccomend taking the a&p online as well as the other sciences , or should i take it on campus? i had to drop a&p last summer so that i could start my lvn and i really dont want two drops on my record and i am nervous to take it online for that reason.... also for those of you who took the sciences on campus do they accept the sciences from community colleges to satisfy the requirements? i am considering taking it at tcc next term but i dont want to waste my time and money if it will not transfer...i appreciate all advice thank you!!
  22. hi no advise but a quick question... what was the admissions process like for you for the rn-bsn program. i am working on prereq for my lvn-rn bridge and from there hope to do the same program you are doing... was it competitive at all? Thank you!
  23. Hi there! i am a current student at Concorde! first of all you have to know that you do not need credit to get the federal loans, the only way you wont get them is if you have a federal loan in default. If your family is low income they may be able to give you grants to cover what the loan doesnt. and if worse comes to worse concorde will finance you up the 3000 to be paid off while you are going to school. i have heard a lot of negative things about dni and if concorde is closer i would reccommend you consider it. i know it sounds like a lot of money but the way i justified it was that as an lvn you will be making more money than what the program costs when you finish in a year, money that you would not have been making if you had hung around and started the pre reqs and waited around to get into a program. getting all the prereqs the schools want nowdays takes about a year, idk about you but i didnt have another year to wait. plus once you come up with the money and pass entrance test you are in!! garunteed! with regular colleges there is always the application waiting period and sadly there are people who still dont get in even with 4.0! Thats what happened to me anyway....there are a lot of negative things said about concorde..mostly money hungry comments. but for the most part i have enjoyed my study here and i reccommend it to everyone who doesnt have time to blow! time is money and the year has blown by and in two months i will be graduating making 3-4 times as much if i had waited around....well worth it to me.. plus there is a bridge program through lamar state college to take you from lvn-rn and they are partnered with uta to take you from rn-bsn....the likelyhood of you getting into a regular program is litterally 12:1 and if you dont make it you have to wait even longer. suck it up and sign on the dotted line! its a big debt to have but there is no one in my class that has regrets as of yet! :) good luck with whatever you decide!!
  24. they never told me I hastily be working for awhile. I have te Gi bill tho to help me to pay for school...
