  1. can you get ebooks on a Kindle??
  2. Is everyone getting the book package offered by the bookstore? Is that really the best deal?
  3. So orientation is over and i'm overwhelmed!! The next 14 months are going to be crazy. I didn't realize that we would have class EVERY day, ALL day.
  4. Nice to see you on the forum!! I never made it to dietitian status. How long have you been a dietitian? What made you want to switch careers?
  5. Yeah, i guess we can handle anything for 14 months. What's your previous degree in?? No, i do not have much health care experience. I've volunteered in an ER waiting room for 4 months once a week and I have my EMT certification. I never worked as an EMT, but i got a few moments of experience during my clinicals.
  6. What are you most nervous about wolfie?? I'm nervous about clinicals; i've heard you just have to jump in there and try things. I'm definitely the type who likes to see it done a few times before jumping in! On the other hand, i graduated in December and have had this time off from school.. I think it'll actually be nice to get back into the classroom again. I miss it.
  7. Thanks everyone! Your insight is very encouraging. Special thanks to 07302003. I aspire to become a CRNA and will need experience in the ICU, so thanks for the new focus in my study areas. Isabelle49: I'll look into WOCN. I've never heard of this specialty! msjellybean: do you have any good nutrition mag or website recommendations? Are there any specific to the field of nursing? I subscribe to Today's Dietitian and stop by the ADA website from time to time, but would love to expand my resources. One last thing, I'm pretty ignorant of who is in charge of counseling what. So when is it the dietitians job to counsel the patient on nutrition issues vs a doctor vs a nurse?
  8. Hello Nurses! I recently graduated with a degree in nutrition, with an option in dietetics. I have always loved studying nutrition, but during my Senior year of school i realized dietetics was not the field for me. I have chosen to become a nurse and will be starting an accelerated program in June. :) I would like to ask the nurses on this forum how much they use their knowledge of nutrition; do you feel that it is a necessary subject to have mastered? or do you think nurses should know more? I'm curious to know if my degree is wasted, or if it will be an advantage for me to have. Thanks for all your input!
  9. Hello everyone!! :) New to allnurses.com (joined yesterday) seems like a great resource. No one in my family works in the health care field, so i'm hoping to learn as much as i can from this site. I was recently accepted into the OU-Tulsa accelerated nursing program. Super excited! It's great to see so many future classmates on the forum! I graduated in December from OSU with a degree in nutrition, option-dietetics; realized about a year ago that dietetics was not for me. Since then I've been working for a catering company and trying to figure out what i want! There are so many possibilities for nurses.
