  1. P.S. The Epic campus is borderline ridiculous!!! If you have even an ounce of Geek in you, then you will absolutely LOVE the campus.
  2. Mom4Josh, Get ready!!! It is one of the most challenging jobs that I have had in my nursing career. I don't say that to scare you, but just wanted to let you know what you are getting yourself into. I started my career in nursing informatics a year ago, next month. The hospital that I work at started the implementation last March. I accepted a job as the team lead for Clin Doc, which in my organization, means a great deal more responsibility without any extra compensation (this is the only thing that I would have done differently thus far). Much like yourself, our hospital decided to go with an 18 month implementation. Training went by pretty easily for about 3/4 of our team. The other 1/4 of the team struggled to meet deadlines for certifications. The project started off slowly, but now at about a year into it, the weeks are flying by!! Like I said, it is a challenging position. I often think that the project is so much bigger than myself and my abilities, but I would still do it all over again. I feel that the experience is invaluable and look forward to finishing the project and seeing what the Lord has in store for me in the future. I personally feel that if I can pull this project off, then I can do anything!!!!!
  3. The hospital that I work at is going to change over to Epic. I found out Friday that I got one of the team lead positions for Documentation. I can not offer you alot of information, just only what I have been able to find out over the past month. The Epic system is exciting and one of the best out there. If you get a job as an analyst you will be go to Epic's training center, in WI, 3 times for what looks to be 3-4 days at a time to get your certification. It looks like the only way to become an Epic certified analyst is to 1. work for epic or 2. work for an organization that uses Epic. I have been wanting to get into nursing informatics for sometime now. I will be leaving for my first trip to WI on the 18th of April. If this is at all helpful to you in any way, I wouldnt mind keeping you posted on what the process truly intels once I have actually been there!
