Mom4Josh, Get ready!!! It is one of the most challenging jobs that I have had in my nursing career. I don't say that to scare you, but just wanted to let you know what you are getting yourself into. I started my career in nursing informatics a year ago, next month. The hospital that I work at started the implementation last March. I accepted a job as the team lead for Clin Doc, which in my organization, means a great deal more responsibility without any extra compensation (this is the only thing that I would have done differently thus far). Much like yourself, our hospital decided to go with an 18 month implementation. Training went by pretty easily for about 3/4 of our team. The other 1/4 of the team struggled to meet deadlines for certifications. The project started off slowly, but now at about a year into it, the weeks are flying by!! Like I said, it is a challenging position. I often think that the project is so much bigger than myself and my abilities, but I would still do it all over again. I feel that the experience is invaluable and look forward to finishing the project and seeing what the Lord has in store for me in the future. I personally feel that if I can pull this project off, then I can do anything!!!!!
