Amedisys
In General I am finding that "case management" sucks big time. It was so much better for patient outcomes and continuity of care when it was RN from start to finish. Less people to deal with and u have eyes on and hands on with that patient. I don't know when all this case management started but it is very intrusive when you have people calling (other disciplines) while you are trying to see a patient.

Passed NCLEX, waiting for inactive status update BON
I wouldn't worry at all about a 29 yr old DUI..My sister is an RN and had one in the mid 90's...it has not presented a problem at all for her over the last 15 or so years...but she did worry about it whenever she applied for a new job. But it never affected her being hired or her license after all these years.

Lpn Or Rn?
Thank you for your Post, Justin... Money is an issue as well as time as far as trying to get through the LPN program then onto an RN Program.. I am hoping she gets the RN for the reasons you stated above,,, I have worked with many LPN's over the years and have to say that I have met a lot that are better nurses than the RN's I have worked with....and I am an R.N... My brother is an LPN....

Lpn Or Rn?
She is a CNA now. So she has shadowed LPN's and RN's.... Definitely wants the RN. I guess after all is said and done it is her decision and how she handles it all and I have to stop stressing myself about it! Thank you~

Lpn Or Rn?
I believe that is the question she is going to ask her advisor today...(about the wait list aspect)... I guess my main question is: would it be worth the wait(to see if she is accepted to RN program) or just go ahead and do the LPN first..without waiting for the final word about the RN program... I do not know if she applied at other colleges....:)

Lpn Or Rn?
I took no offense at all! And if I push my daughter she shoves me back:lol2: Darn emails take on their on tones! But if anything I have at times encouraged her to seek out a different occupation/degree.. :) Thank you for your original reply as well as this one. :)

I am not doing anything for her...She doesn't even know I am posting. She wants nursing(RN)..... I only posted to receive comments and or suggestions from other nurses out of curiosity as to what they would do.

Lpn Or Rn?
Hi Nico, Wow, you were #90 on the wait list or #30? I'm not sure I am understanding... When did they let you know? It is now mid March and I am wondering when they will let her know... Also she has to send in paperwork for LPN soon.... I worry that if she goes ahead and does that will the school will just take her off wait list for RN?.... wondering if she should hang back and wait for final notification for RN.. Thanks!

Lpn Or Rn?
I was remembering about 10 or so years ago when the ANA (not sure if this was who it was) wanted to change the requirements of all new nurses to have a BSN but it was shot down....of course they were going to grandfather in current ADN RN's.. I have noticed a definite decrease in hiring of nurses in our area due to budget cuts. With this economy it would make more since NOT to hire BSN's if they can pay an RN less... IMHO. I don't believe at all that all are passed over because they don't have a BSN.. It also depends on what position you are applying to, of course.

She is already in the A&P class and lab. She has quite a few of her pre-reqs. Still needs Chemistry tho... When I went for my Rn I got all that stuff out of the way first...was easier I'm sure.

I agree...I am an RN and that is why I would rather her go into that program if accepted.. I wonder if it is highly competitive to get in to a BSN program(sans the associates degree).

Lpn Or Rn?
It is for this fall. I guess the wait list is in case some of the applicants that were accepted into the program decide to drop out or something else happens.. She would have to reapply again for fall 2012 ..the wait list doesn't apply to the next year program if she doesn't get in now...

I believe so, but not sure. Thanks for your response!
