I'm 27 taking my BSN at USF planning on going for CRNA and Doctorate.

My overall GPA was 3.6 my prereq was 3.8 Essay and work experience is very important

Don't worry too much about GPA as long as you are over 3.5. and mostly A's in the prereq's. The essay is very important now because it is where you will separate yourself from the rest of applicants. You have to give the board a sense of why you will be a good nursing student and about your passion for nursing. A lot of people with high GPA's didn't get in.

I'm already CPR certified. Just make sure your intent to enroll form, and your online background check is ordered.

Just got accepted to USF for the Summer of 2011. Don't worry fellas I plan on representing us well. Any other guys going to USF for summer 2011 on the forum?

Maybe because I got accepted to UCF also but USF is closer to where I live in Hernando County so I won't have to move just commute every day.

Congrats to everybody else who got in. I'm in the upper division track. See you guys in class soon. Also don't forget to meet the paperwork deadlines or you will make some lucky alternate happy.

Keep your fingers crossed if you are on the alternates list. People may drop by Apr 4 is the first deadline for turning in the intent to enroll paper work. If somebody messes up that's the first chance to get in. Also background checks have to be in done by Apr 8. So who knows you still have some what of a chance. Keep applying don't give up.

When I was up there visiting the advisor I was told that you could apply to both programs but preference in the upper division selection is given to those without degrees already. Sorry but keep your fingers crossed.

Then it must be your essay. Try to have someone read it before you resubmit it. Or maybe you just got unlucky because I heard there were a ton of applicants this period. Try to stay positive maybe you will make it as an alternate yet.

I think what helped me is that I had a strong resume, and essay. I don't have a lot of healthcare experience but I got all A's in every science class. MY overall GPA was 3.59 and prereq 3.88 so I think GPA wise you are fine. Try to increase everything else and maintain or raise your GPA.

I'm so sorry but good luck on making it. Plz don't give up. Maybe your essay needs tweeking.

Good Luck hopefully we both get in. I think you are a lock with that GPA and volunteer experience. But you never know. When I went to orientation up there they said that people with GPA's of 3.3 were getting in because of experience and writing sample. So I don't really know what else you can do at this point.

No I passed it the first time with an 82 but I got denied. Then they changed to the TEAS V and I have to take it again. Well only if I don't get accepted to USF, they don't require a TEAS test at the University of South Florida. But the GPA requirements are pretty steep. I'm at 3.59 and I am still sweating bullets hoping to get in.

FL is not that bad. No matter where you are, your environment is what you make of it. Right now there aren't many jobs in Florida. The pay is low and benefits are being cut to the bone. Education is good, not as good as say Harvard but way cheaper. People are generally nicer down south. You need a automobile to get around. The biggest thing that got on my nerves though is that every thing closes after 6 generally down here. I'm from NYC and I'm use to every thing being open 24/7. But other than a few minor gripes Florida is ok. Lower taxes and real estate prices for one.

Hmmm I've definitely heard this rumor before myself. I just applied to the University of South Florida's upper division program. My Overall GPA is 3.59, Pre-requisite GPA 3.88 I don't have volunteer experience and my only health experience is CPR certification and my Combat life Saver training from the Army. I have A's in all science classes. I know most people I have talked to are applying to CC but I want to go to a University because it will look better on my resume. I'm praying I make it and for this "male favoritism" lol!
