  1. Hi All- Just wanted to send some positive thoughts Wendy's way. She is sitting down this very moment to take the exam!!! GO WENDY!!!!! Lisa
  2. I put the foley tubing over the patient's leg, but we are supposed to always use a foley strap to eliminate a lot of the potential problems.
  3. I too am a PCA and nursing student. I would love to have more experience doing manual BP's on my floor but during my first week on the job, one of the nurses told me that I should not bring my stethoscope to work as they wouldn't want anyone to confuse me with a nurse. Needless to say, I have not been doing many manual BPs. I love my job as a PCA. I love the patient contact I have gotten on the job and wouldn't trade it for anything.
  4. I live in West Palm Beach, FL and am currently working as a Nurse Associate (same as a PCA, except nursing students make more $ and have a little more responsibility than PCAs). Anyway, I started out making $13.25 an hour and now make $14.00 an hour. I work 2 12 hour shifts a week. I would highly recommend this job to any nursing student. Yeah, I don' get to do tons of nursing stuff, but the patient contact is invaluable. You will feel so much more comfortable with patients than your fellow classmates and will also get a chance to see what REAL nursing is all about, not just the stuff you learn in the skills lab!! Good luck Lisa
