Wondering about working for Davita Dialysis
Hi tiffpritRn Im sorry for a late response. i kept checking my last response and didnt see any more post and didnt realize there was the next page. Thank you for the information. I am in texas, the worst place to work as a nurse. Ive made the biggest mistake of moving to texas. I have a warning with stip. I tried to find a job working in the laboratory and the company usually use the third party background check company and even though lab work has nothing to do with nursing when they do backgroumd check they pull out the nursing license stilulation. So im afraid im going to have a same problem with the davita or fresnius. Do you know if davita use third party background check company Your situation is very weird. Is the Bon investigating now? Do you have a lawyer who can help you? I hope everything is going to be okay with you because ive been through h.

Do you think a warning on my license will prevent me from finding another job?
I got warning because i was accused of hitting a patient in nursing home. thats why i got warning. Now I know I am never going to be able to work a nurse again/ If I got wrarning because I forgot to chart something or made a minor med error, maybe there is a chance I'll be able to find a job. Now i'm worried that even if I go back to school in another medical field, is warning on my license going to haunt me for the rest of my life? Are they going to look up my license? I dont know how I'm going to explain why i left nursing. I am feeling so hopless right now

Do you think a warning on my license will prevent me from finding another job?
I need an advice from you guys because I dont know who else I can ask for help. I received a warning on my license and I know I am never going to be able to work as a nurse again. So i thought about going back to school and study medical lab technician. Then I thought even i finish the program am I going to able to find a job? Because I have to list nursing work as a previous work history and they are going to know why I quit nursing and became a lab tech and I have to tell them why. Do you think tag on my license is going to prevent me from finding another job? Should I not even waste time to study med tech? Is there a chance they might check my nursing license to find out why i have warning on my license? I dont know what to do

need an honest answer from DON
I need to ask DON at long term care facility and i need an honest answer. If a nurse comes to you and tells you that her license has been disciplined for a false accusation of hitting a patient. Her license was put on either warning or reprimand. Is that a ground for an immedate termination at your facility?

medical coding
Is medical coding differet from HIT? ARe more hospitals or doctors office more likely to hire nurses with coding training or is it sitll difficult to find jobs after completing the program? I'm worried about how many people mentioned that medical codes can be charged with fraud.

New nurse here. How do I overcome a suspension from work?
How about an inpatient rehab unit in the hospital? Patients are less acutely ill, better patient to nurse ratio then LTC. Your nurse manager doesnt seem to be very fair to me. ((hugs))))

how to find a lawyer
i'm looking for a lawyer to defend my license but if they charge more than other lawyers then it means they just want to make money?
-
how to find a lawyer
I am looking for a lawyer but how do I go about finding one? If I go to doctors office, there are some doctors who barely examed me and wanted to charge me for it and there are doctors who takes time and do a through exam and explain things. So i assume lawyers are the same thing. How do I know if a lawyer wants to help or just wants to make profit?

when you are accused of abuse
I was sent home today from my work because my co-worker reported me to my boss that I hit one of my patient. I was very upset and I couldnt beleive that I was being accused of such a thing. Patient is very confused and disoriented so he is not going to able to tell the truth. I'm worried about more about my license then my job. I wrote my statement and submitted it to my boss. But are they going to beilieve me? ITs her word against hers. How do you guys react to such a allegation against you?

Long term acute care inside hospital
A nurse recruiter gave me some information about the unit and she told me they have vent patients, dialysis patients and patient who needs wound care. If I do take this job, I'll probably have to move close to the hospital. If I am confident if can handle this kind of unit, I'll definitely move but right now i'm not feeling confident at all. Do you think med-surg unit might be better than long term care unit?

Long term acute care inside hospital
Thanks for your info Esme I have worked in skilled nursing and subacute facilities and now I wanted to try an acute care. A nurse recruter set up a job interview with a nurse manager in long term acute care unit that is located inside the hospital. I thought long term acute unit is slower than med-surg unit because from what nurse recruiter told me patients stay average of 25 days. After hearing your description, it seems like this is more of a step down unit then med-surg unit. What types of IV drips do you administer to the patients? Is it like Nitroglycerin and other medications that are mostly given in cardiac unit? I dont suppose you give meds like Versed that are usually givin in ICU? I'm not feeling very confident about working in this kind of unit and my gut tells me this is not going to work out. Plus this hospital is located 6 hours from where I live so i dont even know if I should even try this job if its not going to work out. I'm still waiting to hear from a hospital that suits my skills little better but it has been over a month and they haven't called back yet. I don't know if its because this hospital was just bought by different company so they are putting a hold on hiring new people. What do you guys think?

Long term acute care inside hospital
Has anyone worked in a long term acute care unit that is located inside hospital? I know there are many long term acute care hospitals that are different companies then the hospitals. What is the work like? What types of patients do you have and what types of meds do you give? I read couple of thread about long term acute care hospitals and it seems like the work is more difficult than a med-surg unit. Do you prefer new grad to work in a med-surg or the long term acute care?

Do Not Send to Hospital From Nursing Home
Umm..do not listen to don. She will prevent you from sending patient to the hospital because they will loae money from it. Ive dealt with the same situation many times. Advanced direcrives shiuld have specific instructions such a cpr.iv.labs and hospitalization and poa should answe either yes or no. So of you didnt see it on patients chart then patient should be transferred if patient need to go. I would call the poa and ask if its okay to send patient. And you chart it. Tell the don family wished patient to go to the hospital. I had hospice patient to sent to the hospital because family's wish. Your don is not going to protect you if patient is a limitwd dnr like yours and you didnt take the corect action.

skilled nursing unit
How is skilled nursing unit different from the med/surg unit in the hospital? Do hospitals consider experience in skilled nursing unit an experience at all or is it count the same as experience in the nursing homes? Is it worth working skilled nursing unit to gain experience?
