I know how you feel. As a student you should have rights but as a smoker we have no rights, here where I live a person or patient can not even smoke on the groounds of the hospital. I am a nurse and I smoke. I do not wnat to quit or I would. I was in he hospital for neck surgery. I want to get oout of there becouse I wanted to relax and have a smoke. Smoking relaxes me, I was persscribed medication to help me stop smoking but I could not afford the medication it was like $300.00 per a month! As far as smoke scent being on your clothes, use Frabreeze, also use strong mouth mints. I have always used mints becouse I do not want to affend anyone with my bad breath. ( I also know some people that do not smoke smell real bad and have bad breath, some is due to medicatoin they are taking and some is due from not realing they stink ot maybe dont care) What affends me is strong perfume or some perfume in general. Red Door sets off my headaches and make me feel as though I cant breath. smokers doont have rights but it may fall under soomthing else. speak with your advisor or soomeone.

I am sorry people feel that employors have the "right" to tell thier employees what they can and can not do to thier body. I am a smoker, and becouse I can not smoke and feel comfortable in many resturrants, they do not get my money. I do not eat there. As far as an employer telling me I can not smoke on MY BREAKS, I think this is comunisum, and is wrong no matter how you look at it. Even when I did not smoke, I did not ABUSE the RIGHTS of others, Employees or Residents! This makes me so mad for self rightoues people to JUDGE others for "bad Habits" NEXT Residents will be told what clothing they can wear and how they can wear thier hair.

You know, I still kind of doubt it. Med Aides are Cheaper than hiring Liecensed personal. Kind of like working with a skelten shift. The health care agencies does only what they must do. There was a long term home I know of that tried using L.P.N.'s to pass medication. C.M.A.s were put on the floor for CNA work. The L.P.N.'s complained that they were not to pass medication! OKAY! What were they trained for? Letting L.P.N.'s pass medication is a great asset to any place and would possible cut down on Malpractice Lawsuits, in return possibly lower malpractice insurance!

oh yes i do agree. if the states wants cma's, then, i think the cma's need to take at least a 6 month course on medication and everything that goes along with this. like i said i was a cma i know we were not taught everything. the title was very difficult to accomplish. i did learn from the drug books. this is how i learned. not from the class. that was a joke. it was not even a class.i do agree. but, with the so called nurse shortage how can the nurses fulfill that obligation?

come on now! did you write up medication errors or have the med aide to do so?i was a med aide before i become a l.p.n. i enjoyed passing medication, but i did it all: injections caths everything, i even charged the building! as a l.p.n., yes med aides scare me! i am so afraid of "their" mistakes. i never thought about the mishaps until i went to work at a long term place and had to endure countless hours of writing up med errors due to incompetent med aides. be careful. your writes up could save your job and license.
