  1. uptodate app visualdx - helpful for building unusual ddx, use this when i'm stumped "journal club" for landmark studies - like a $5 one time purchase and use it frequently to look up research for abx - sanford guide app. i use this for abx coverage and alternatives with allergies
  2. I used to be a night person too and am currently working straight days med-surg. I initially had difficulty getting myself to sleep early when I didn't feel tired, but my revelation was...sublingual melatonin is great. It's sleep candy, and I don't feel groggy in the AM. Best of luck to you.
  3. Hi Molls, I don't know that I'm well-qualified enough to answer most of these questions, but I'd bet there are some MGHI nursing students on other threads. I think talking to students or past students would give you the specificity you're probably looking for. I had a good feeling about the program coming out of the information session. The faculty and admin. folks they had there were well-prepared and friendly. I did have a friend who went there for direct entry and said great things about the classes and program, but also said that the administration was disorganized. Hope that helps.
  4. thanks, sara. just checked the website-- i stand corrected. :)
  5. I'm also interesting in hearing how you folks are evaluating programs aside from visiting. Have you found useful quantitative rankings by specialty anywhere? Thanks!
  6. I received the acceptance call, but have not yet received my acceptance letter from Northeastern, but as others have noted, I declared an interest in psych, so it looks like decisions in other areas haven't been made yet. I think I'll likely be going there, but I'm also interested in MGH. I also have an interest in FNP, though I don't know which way I'll go yet. Northeastern said as of now, it is allowed to change your specialty/interest prior to the specialization phase, but that this might not be the case a few years from now. (Looks like quotas are being used). This is one of the most attractive things to me about Northeastern as well as the co-op. I went to an MGH information session in which one of the panelists said that incoming MGH students will NOT be able to switch their specialties after entering the program, though I don't know how firm this is. It would be hard for me to imagine a student in good standing that has done well in classes being refused that. I suppose one could always leave with the BSN and apply to a different program? Looking forward to getting started this fall!
