CSULA NP program. How competitive?
ooomonkeys, I'm really not sure and have had a hard time finding out too much about the program in general. I did apply there because the tuition is so low and I like the location. I was told on the phone that they would be making decisions in early to mid May. Unfortunately I have to submit statements of intent to register at other schools I have been admitted to before May so Im not sure what I am going to do. I am planning on driving up from San Diego on Monday just to take a look at the campus but have been unsuccessful in making any advising appointments. Hopefully I can hang around the nursing building and ask some current students some questions. If anyone has any info on the program, please share! (FNP non generic entry Masters).

Any applicants for UCLA's FNP program for fall 2011?
I just turned down my offer for UCLA FNP. Hope that opens up a space for one of you who are still waiting. Best of luck!

UCSF 2011 MSN Hopefuls
I was just denied by UCSF via email link to the website. A little disappointed but it also helps me narrow my choices. Right now I am thinking I will accept UW's offer for the FNP DNP. Good luck to everyone else!

[/url]czyja, I wonder if you would mind sharing a bit how it works to matriculate from the MSN to PhD program? Do you have to apply along with all the other PhD applicants? And how long does it take to finish the PhD if you already have your Masters there? Thanks! -Leah

Any applicants for UCLA's FNP program for fall 2011?
NB-rn I live in San Diego. The letter I got was postmarked on the 22nd so it only took 1 day to get to me. If you live further away you wouldn't have gotten anything in the mail today so hold out hope!

Any applicants for UCLA's FNP program for fall 2011?
I just got my UCLA acceptance in the mail today. MSN/FNP program. My status online never changed, still just says, "submitted". They want me to let them know by April 1st which seems very soon. Also, I would have to re-take a physical assessment course since mine is 3.5 years old. The course costs $1,500 plus it means moving to LA 2 months sooner. So thats also 2K in LA rent, plus the money I loose by leaving my job 2 months early. Im going to ask if I can petition to have this waived. If not, this could be the deciding factor

Any applicants for UCLA's FNP program for fall 2011?
My application still just says "submitted". I applied for the FNP and since I see others have been accepted, maybe that means I didnt get in oh well, Im anxious to hear either way. I am also waiting on UCSF, USD, SFSU, CSULA. Got in to UW FNP DNP program but thats the only school I have heard from so far. Good luck to everyone and congrats to Miska! People, please post your acceptances/rejections on grad cafe results forum, http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=nursing&t=a other disciplines use it way more than nursing does and it is a great tool!

UCSF 2011 MSN Hopefuls
Also, does anyone know if there anything on allnurses similar to grad cafe results? Other disciplines share tons of acceptances/rejections on grad cafe, but there is hardly any posts for nursing. Its a great tool and I wish more people would post! http://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=nursing

UCSF 2011 MSN Hopefuls
My application also still says "under review" for FNP specialty. Maybe they send notices at different times for different specialties? Hopefully we will all hear soon! Good luck everyone

UCSF 2011 MSN Hopefuls
rayfocker I also applied to the MSN program (FNP speicalty). My application says, "under review", and I have not heard anything yet. I am curious to know how many RN applicants they got because I have not seen much going on in these forums from people who are already RN's. I have 2.5 years experience as an RN and have a BA and BSN with high GPA's in both. I was accepted in UW's DNP program but its much less expensive for me to stay in state so I am eager to hear from UCSF. I'll let you know if I hear anything. Good luck!

University of Washington
I was accepted via email this afternoon to the FNP / DNP program! yay, I am so excited but nervous too! UW is my top choice but also my most expensive choice by far. I will have to look into funding options before I can officially say Im going to accept the offer. Im keeping my fingers crossed for the rest of the UW applicants here. Hopefully we will all be in some classes together next fall :)

wow, sounds like you are a really strong applicant as well, your experience is very broad. I did hear from UW that my application is complete, and the woman said we should be hearing by the end of March. I am planning on paying for grad school primarily with loans. I am hoping to TA as much as possible to get tuition waived. I already owe quite a bit for my first 2 degrees and I hate to take on more debt. I have also been looking into some loan reimbursement programs such as NFLP and NERLP which are offered through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). I will keep you posted if I hear anything more from UW. Good luck!

Lammy01, thank you for your reply. That is what my application page says at the top as well. But my transcripts and other items are still listed as "not yet received" rather than "not tracked" like yours. I left a message with the admissions office just to make sure they have all my documents. I hate to bother them when they are so busy but I'm getting a little nervous. I live in San Diego, but would love to move to Seattle. In addition to UW, I applied to Seattle University which I have heard good things about. I also applied to MSN programs at UCLA, UCSF, SFSU, CSULA and USD. How about you? Where else did you apply? A little about me: I have my BSN and have worked as an RN for a little over 2 years in Postpartum. I have volunteer RN experience in the outpatient community setting as well. I also have a BA in Communication Studies. My GPA is high and my letters of recommendation are good but Im not quite sure what I am competing against in terms of work and volunteer experience.

BSN to DNP
University of Washington offers BSN to DNP programs which are completed in 3 years of full time study. They offer lots of NP and CNS specialties. Also, USD offers BSN to DNP programs. I think more and more schools will be offering DNP programs. I say, go to the school you want regardless of whether it is DNP or MSN. You can always do the DNP later. I have seen some programs already that offer MSN to DNP in only 1 year (if you stay within the same specialty). I am sure there will be more and more of these programs offered as more masters prepared Nurse Practitioners want to go back to get their DNP.
