  1. I'm still waiting for cgfns to approve my degree and send the information to the board! :-( it's taking forever!
  2. the Idaho BON does not require me to have an active RN license in my home country at the time that I applied for my license here, as soon as they get the CES report from CGFNS. So I wan't to avoid doing that on the CES process since it is one more thing that I could skip and one more thing prone to issues that I would avoid having to do. But as per the CES program website, they say that you have to submit your license for validation, I could not find any information about not doing that on their website, since all that the board wants to know is if my degree is equivalent to an US degree on the course by course evaluation.
  3. I've just figure out that I can just go through the CES process to be able to apply for my license on ID BON, I currently have a valid RN license in Brazil, but thought would be easier to just go through my academic records/transcripts. I see many threads here telling that if I don't have a local board license I don't have to submit it for evaluation on the CES, but what about if I have one? Can I also skip that step and o just the course evaluation?
  4. yeah, people here at the board in Idaho are really trying to help and make me understand the requirements (their website doesn`t have much information) but I was able to talk directly to the person who evaluate the CGFNS and International nurses documentation... btw, I do not need any VISA requirement since my husband employer is pursuing a greencard and I currently have a L2 VISA which allows me to work if I have an EAD which is pretty simple to get.
  5. I actually have a degree, just wondering how hard would be to get a US degree as well and not having to go through the CGFNS process, but seems pretty clear that this would be longer and harder than the CGFNS
  6. something like that... what I`m trying to understand if it would be possible to use my foreign degree and kinda use that for transfer paperwork to a US college and then from there get my US degree in less than the usual 4 years, because I would use my technical nursing class hours as a reciprocity for the US college technical classes. I understand I would have to go through all the US specifics but at least the technical stuff is pretty much the same... unfortunately this would probably require me to go through the CES process as well, unless the college accepts something other than the CES CGFNS process, which most of them don`t.
  7. Hi to all Brazilians in here... I have just moved from Brazil, Porto Alegre and I`m looking forward to getting my RN license in Idaho, though going through all the paperwork is really hard! So is there any other Brazilian out there? Wanna share some information, experience, thoughts... even though each state has its own rules, we all need to go through the CGFNS process and I`m forecasting I will have a really hard time having COREN doing the right thing on their side... :) Looking forward to talking to any of you, Brazilians!
  8. Is there any difference compared to someone leaving high school if someone with a foreign nurse degree attempt to get a US nurse degree? Any chance to get some kind of credits for the previous course in another country? So maybe you would have to take a kind of refresher course and get your US degree? I know this seems to be much harder than going through CGFNS, but I`m just wondering how hard it would be to do something like that... if even possible!
  9. I'm looking to get my license in Idaho. I did contact the board but even the information they provided wasn't clear. They sent me a document telling that CP program should be completed as a nursing knowledge test is required, even though the email says that both CES and CP are accepted, also the cgfns website says that Idaho BON takes both CES and CP, I'm gonna try to contact them again, since the website is not very helpful and the document I received seems a little outdated, really hope I don't have to go through the CP since CES looks a lot easier paperwork to do and also no extra exam to take
  10. Is it valid doing what dontra07 is doing for all states? rules for license through endorsement are not very clear, can I get my RN license from a state that does not requires the CGFNS exam like CA and then "transfer" to a state that does require through endorsement?
  11. HI I have a question about the requirement sending college transcripts, degree and license information to CGFNS that needs to be sent directly from my home country college and license board. I`m a graduated nurse from Brazil currently looking to get my RN license in Idaho, I`m having a hard time getting the forms sent directly to CGFNS and I`m trying to figure out if I can just get all the documents and translations on a sealed envelope from my college and local Brazil board and send them myself on the mail to CGFNS. I wonder what would be the difference if the envelope is sealed and has a stamp if the the documents are sent by them or by someone else. It`s not that hard to have the documents on a sealed envelope but getting that sent to CGFNS is not easy and it would be a lot easier if I could send it myself. Also, I`d like to understand if it`s worth attempting to get my RN license on a State that does not require the CP, but just the CES. Would it be a lot easier to get CGFNS approval without taking the exam? I probably would have a chance to move to Colorado since my husband can work in both Idaho or Colorado, we choose Idaho because we have good contacts in hospitals and it would be easier to get a job here, but there is no easy job if I don`t get my license so being much easier to get my license in Colorado would make the move a good choice. I`m not currently looking for any VISA requirements since my husband`s employer is pursuing a greencard and I currently have a VISA that allows me to work so I just need to satisfy the license requirements. The other question I have is about "employment record", ID BON requires a employment record for foreign educated nurses looking for the RN license, I`ve worked as a resident nurse for 2 years 2009/2010. Does anyone know if that would be valid as a employment record?
