  1. Make sure that your CPR certification is hospital approved because if its not you will have to do it all over again!
  2. thats a GREAT idea! wish someone would have told me to do that! I mean for real! ENJOY IT! Keep your head up... it is possible cause others have done it. its just how bad you want it or not! and another thing.... just because half the class fails a test doesnt mean they will have to change your grade! this is called welcome to nursing school and all the normal rules dont apply!! you will not be spoon feed anything this is a true test of who you are as a person! and thats honestly why people dont make it through. YOU GOT TO BE STRONG! get used to making B's and C's! sometimes the highest anyone makes is a low B on test!
  3. and FYI there are no study guides so dont ask for one! I made that mistake and got a head throw back with a laugh!
  4. sorry seems like i am being negatvie but really honestly trying to be honest. cause everyone sugar coated it for me and wish i had someone that just told me striaght up.
  5. your so cute! haha i was optimistic as well. and its good to stay that way. i dont like giving out information about where i am or who i am cause teachers do look at this. but yes i am in the nursing program. every teacher is different you have to figure out how they test. its almost a game. they say it aint but it totally is. they just try to get the weak out. to be a nurse you have to be strong. its gonna test you on so many levels. its hard.... plan and straight up. some people ease through but most struggle. its just the way it is. the more you analyze the worst and harder it is. just study everyday! and yes there are test every week! and there is sometimes three test in one week. then they will lecture after test then you have a test the next week. its just the way it is. hard hard hard. no other way to put it. it makes A&P 1 and 2 as well as microbiology look elementary or even pre-kish! so dont think you can study only four hours for a test and make an A. You would be lucky to make a D only studying that much!
  6. hate to burst anyones bubble but jeff state is hard and very unorganized. good luck to all that get in. your gonna need it. its not impossible but its close to it. and calculations is the least of your worries!!!!!!!!!!!!!! know how to test nclex style cause if you dont then you SOL!
  7. This is not stuff they told us. Only thing they said was drug test and picture ID will be made.
  8. When do we get there?
  9. I also just didn't know what books to bring! I mean is this gonna be a class or what? I just don't understand!
  10. Oh and where do we go? Like orientation room?
  11. Oh no I was there! Just didn't understand! Thanks for clearing that up sweet boy!
  12. So when does school start? They said 26th but that's a Thursday! And Monday is holiday??? So..... ***** Tuesday? I am so antsy I could pee myself! So fustrated..... Want to start!
  13. So when do we go to class??? Cause they said 26th??? That's a Thursday? Do we clinical then?
  14. Don't be scared cause it ain't gonna happen if your scared. Just got to do it. Gonna be hard but got to do it like it's your job! I couldn't believe at orientation someone asked me if I was afraid of blood and other things! I was like why are you asking me this you are in nursing school!!! Kind of made me mad cause I want this so bad and people that have no idea if they can even stomach blood and poop are in! This summer and 2nd semester weed out time! I can't wait for all the weeds to be gone! Haha I mean for real!
  15. Who is ready for blood guts and poop! Haha I am!! Can't wait to start. Orientation was so long ago! I am so ready for this to start. Sick of everyone talking ready to start! Sick of being a pct. Want my degree! Haha is anyone as anxious as me? Cause I mean I have never been so anxious for something. I don't know how not to be. Sux!! Haha
  16. child..... sweetie i old. haha.... but thanks! gl with micro gonna be hard!
  17. oh and i called bonnie today.... i asked her if we needed to mail her the reports of our background checks from the internet. And she explained to me that when we sent in that witness signature letter that that was consent for her to actually sign on to that website and check our backgrounds!!! so thats cool! excited!! i wish school was starting now! I know I gonna love it even when I hate it! cant wait cant wait cant wait
  18. I am CPR certified already. I know that you want to make sure that when you get certifide that its a certificate that covers hospitals. Because my red cross certification doesnt cover hospitals. But I work at UAB and the certificate I got through them does. Its Healthcare covered certificate. Just make sure cause if not you cant do clinicals. I would call Bonnie. The way it sounded to me was that they would tell you more about that on orientation if you were certified or not. I am so one less thing I got to worry about. I already turned my certificate to them.
  19. see i work in a hospital and i am just worried about how we actually do things at the hospital compared to what we are taught because everyone says its two different things....
  20. www.dosagehelp.com has questions to work out and lets you submit you answer then get correct answer
  21. sciences were pretty easy.
  22. i took venglarik for my 202. ross for my 201. took black for micro. made all A's.
  23. oh i mailed mine. is that okay? it was only that witness sheet we had to turn in right?
  24. thats how i do it. but teachers may have another method and formula. thats what i am worried about. because some people count problems worng even though you got the answer right but didnt work the problem out the way they wanted you to. I dont know Jeff State strange. why did you take that up there? i looked and they sent my report to jeff state.
  25. You went and turned it in to who? I thought they mailed it to Bonnie? My sheet said it did. They better of sent it to her. Did you not get them to send it? Anyway the problem are like this; Calculate the IV flow rate for 0.031 L of D5W IV over 10.9 hr. Infusion set has drop factor of 17 gtts/mL. What is the IV flow rate in gtts/min? answer: gtt means drops. so we looking for drops per(/) min... gtt/min. 0.031 L/10.9 hours well your trying to get that to drops and minutes. 10.9 hours is how many minutes? 10.9 times 60min= 654 minutes okay so now we need to convert L to mL. mcL to mL to L to kL (divide by 1000) kL to L to mL to mcL (multiply by 1000) so 0.031 L multiplied by 1000 = 31 mL okay so if theres 31mL/654 min now we need to find how many gtt in 31ml well you know that there is 17gtts for every 1 mL to be infused so if you have 17 drops per 1 ml(17gtt/1 ml)= and we have 31ml how many drops? let x=stand for gtt needed for 31 ml: 17gtt/1ml=xgtt/31ml now cross multiply and you get that there is 527gtts/31ml okay so now you can find gtts per minute because there are 527gtts/654min so now how many gtts are in one minute? let x stand for gtts xgtt/1min=527gtts/654min cross multiply and then divide answer is 0.8 but you will round that up to 1 so 1gtts/min is the correct answer
