  1. So MDAs get an incentive for having a CRNA work as a part of his/her team? How does that work? Just curious. Thanks.
  2. ^ Probably one of the MAIN contributing factors... Personally, I do want to go to CRNA school as well. Almost done with my BSN and will be going back for my Master's in CRNA in about 3 years (probably less). I know that 1 year of experience is recommended, but I'd want at least 2-3 years of experience so that I'm better able to engage myself for grad school. Why do it? For me.. it's about autonomy, interest in anesthesia, and better financial stability. I'm going for my Master's also only because they're pushing NP + CRNA to phD level so tryna get it done sooner than later is a biggggg one for me. I don't want to be in school too long.
  3. my biggest advice: DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT right now. why? because once nursing school actually starts you'd be stressed out of your FREAKIN MIND! it'll really be hard to make any time for yourself.. or for anyone preparing early on is good, i guess.. but will all those information really stick in your head once you need them (for when the time comes)?
  4. chill. relax. cpr certification is easy peezy. besides, if an emergency situation happens in your clinical setting i'm pretty sure YOU won't be the one doing CPR just like my professor always told me: "just because you're certified in something doesn't necessarily mean you can do it"
  5. Hi cheezn4life, Do you know how they conduct the selection process for the interview? Did you have prior nursing-related work experience? Or Did you claim veterans' preference? Sorry to ask these questions as I applied for the VALOR program myself
  6. Wait until late April.. if you still don't get anything, give the department a call. It is definitely not a 5 day/wk schedule. I can tell you that it's been consistent with 4 days/wk for each quarter (including clinical rotations). For my year, I think average GPA was around 3.6 or 3.7? I'm not quite sure so don't quote me on that.. although I can tell you that there were about 3 or 4 people that were WAIT LISTED and later got acceptance into the program. I think some people in the program even got a 3.4/3.5 overall gpa for pre-reqs. As far as TEAS scores, people got results in the mid 80s range.. some have gotten scores in the 90s range. If your GPA/TEAS score looks weak on your application, I highly recommend that you fill out the 2nd language form + health care worker application (if you've worked in a health care field prior to applying to the program) as these will boost up your chances of getting accepted in the program.
  7. You guys should hear from the program around March. The admissions coordinator should have sent you guys a letter stating when you would hear a response. Also, they send out your acceptance letter through e-mail AND mail. I got an e-mail confirmation of my acceptance via e-mail in late April (this was way back in '09). CSUEB's nsg program is tough, but it is def not impossible. We've also had a couple of people drop from the program due to the high level of stress it puts on people, so be prepared for whatever may come your way. Good luck guys, and let me know if you have any questions.
