  1. okay, i clicked on the 2nd link and i really shouldn't have . . . flippin' freaky. posted by hygiene queen http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread215062/pg1 and... http://www.ghostlytalk.com/node/502 these are just two i can find right now about the "hat man". i mean, seriously, what gives? i never had heard of it before and it just seems... well... plain silly that there is something floating all over the world scaring people and wearing, of all things, a top hat or fedora! it was scary!!!!!!!!
  2. HOLY MOLY! Some would have been helping me put "miss Edna" in bed!
  3. :redbeathe:heartbeat Thank you for sharing your story. I'm sooo sooo sorry for you loss . . . what an experience. Not a ghost story but a love story.
  4. i have had a very similar experience to the one described here . . . i'll post about it some time.
  5. This may be the best post yet!!! Hee hee hee . . .
  6. Who says that it has to be family? Maybe there will be a friend, co-worker or even a patient that you have left an impression on that will greet you on the other side. You never know . . .
  7. :redbeathe what a beautiful dream to have about a loved one!!:redpinkhe
  8. In spite of the person setting a fire, this is one of the most heart warming stories I have ever read. How sweet of "G" to take care of nurse that once took care of her! :loveya: Makes me wonder if "everything" became clear after she passed . . .
  9. this is disgusting and sad. why do we teach our children to call 9-1-1 if they are going to be ignored?! :angryfire
  10. first off thanks to everyone for their replies. so it is okay to feel the "thrill" and leave it at that? it isn't necessary to listen for the bruit if the thrill is prominent?
  11. well, honestly i don't have my books anymore. moving so often in the last year has brought me to thin out my belongings. i have been looking online and will keep looking until i find an answer. thanks.
  12. okay you all, i know that i am new to ltc and all but if i remember correctly assessing for a bruit and thrill requires a stethascope . . . however i cannot recall ever actually doing this assessment myself. the case: on our unit are two dialysis pts. i have seen the charting from the 11-7 shift that says that both are present and i have been oreintating with a 7-3 nurse that charts the same . . . however i haven't seen one stethascope on the unit. is it safe to assume that if the thrill is present then all is well? also, what does the bruit sound like? should i only worry if sound is absent all together? please, someone remind me of the correct steps of assessing these shunts. i will be on my own soon and i want to give the correct care to the residents. thanks! bless you all for helping me again!
  13. i just started at a facility that requires employees to wear completely white shoes. by the third day my sneakers look awful. does anyone have tips to keep shoes white or on how to clean them? i guess that they are leather . . . they are k-swiss. i wiped them off with soap and water and lol one looks good but the other doesn't. thanks!
  14. Ask for information in the financial aid office of your school, ask the nursing department if they know of scholarships or grants. Definately do an online search! I used fastweb ( about 4 yrs ago) and I applied for over 20 scholarships. It was very time consuming but in the end worth it. I received 7 of them, although small, when combined it was a great help. If nothing else, you could try for loans. Good luck.
