Bellevue College 2012 hopefuls
I'm in the program right now and they don't require the CNA course for work reasons, the CNA course covers all of the information that used to be taught at the beginning of the first quarter. They now have you take the course (cuz it's a great weed out as well - if you can't wipe someone's a** then you aren't nearly cut out for the job) as a prereq and it's honestly nice because by the time you start they throw you right in to doing assessments and actual 'nursing' skills with the idea that you have already mastered all of the basic CNA skills. During clinicals when you get your patient you have to do all of the tasks of the RN AND the CNA that would normally have that patient. You are not only giving them meds and doing patient teaching (rn's job) but doing all of their hygiene care (peri care, bed bath, changing linens) and taking vitals (tech's job). Basically you must know how to do everything, you won't gain much respect from the staff if you have to ask the tech's how to make the bed properly or how to do peri care (even worse if you just do it wrong without asking). You want to be seen as confident and knowledgeable and someone who takes initiative with sound nursing rationales but at the same time you have to be very humble and open-minded, you must respond well to criticism and try to defer to that person's advice and experience. There is pretty much a fine line between everything haha but it's all about balance. Keep your cool and trust your gut!

Bellevue College 2011
Hello all, I'm 23 and graduated from UW in 2009 with a BA in Economics and Spanish. I started working in finance and it wasn't the right fit so I decided to go into nursing and took most of my prereqs at North but took the multicultural class online at Bellevue. I also did my CNA class last summer through the training institute in Shoreline with my clinicals at Seattle Keiro. It was a very good program that was inexpensive and quick. I really liked the nurses I had in skills lab, they prepared me well and I was even able to pass the state exam with only one foot working (I had fallen and got a severe foot sprain just an hour before the exam!), my right foot was the size of a football but I still managed to hobble around the room and finish everything in the alotted 25 minutes. So if anyone is wondering where to take their class, I would recommend that place. Anyway looking forward to meeting you all!

I got into the fall cohort with a TEAS V of 90. Cstatic, i don't know if you are aware but we are already automatically accepted to start the UW-Bothell RN-BSN when we graduate at Bellevue rather than having to apply.

please let today be the day! if not, then i'm sure the reason this has been taking longer than projected was because they had to figure out how to go about dealing with two different test versions.

Bandaide, I agree with you; the more time they spend trying to answer these calls and questions the less time they spend actually doing the work we are wondering about. So lets let them do their jobs so we can find out faster!! I don't know about this percentile versus score thing because it doesn't seem that clear to me how going on one versus the other would be more accurate but I will tell you all this if it helps you at all, I took the version 5 and got a score of 90 with a percentile of 99%. What that means to me is that one percent or less of all people who took version 5 got a 90 or above. So based on this information, I highly doubt that the average for version 5 was a score of 89.

Seattle Central Applicants Fall 2011
I would really like to get some information from anyone out there who is actually in the seattle central program because I really haven't gotten any first hand reviews of the program and it would help my decision-making process. So any Seattle central nursing students out there, could you give me a review of your experience so far?

Bandaide, how are you liking the program? It has been difficult for me to ascertain which programs are good so I want to ask someone who is going through the experience right now. I also applied to Seattle Central and Highline, I think Bellevue is my first choice right now but I really don't know how to compare the different programs.

Unfortunately, I think you really need the version V because considering their acceptance is based solely on your TEAS score I don't think they would be able to fairly to evaluate the score from a completely different test amongst all of the other scores, especially if one test is harder than another. At last at the info session they seemed to really stress that it had to be that version. The best option is to contact them because we are all just guessing. On another note, does anyone know how many people usually apply? At the info sesh they said they admit 36 in the fall and 36 in the winter. I had a horror story from the first time I took my TEAS in December at Bellevue. School wasn't even in session and the fire alarm went off and none of the test administrators knew what to do... it was horrible. Once I got to start my test again my entire rhythm was messed up. The second time went a lot smoother. I got a 90 so given all my other paper work is fine I hope to get in! I'm just really getting anxious and want to hear back.

Seattle Central Applicants Fall 2011
I only applied to Seattle Central, Bellevue and Highline so far but I actually don't think I will apply to any others. I think Bellevue said they notify in April but I haven't found anywhere that says when Highline will notify. What about you?

Seattle Central Applicants Fall 2011
Wow, that is a lot less applicants than I think there have been in the past. Nancy said that last year she had over 150 applicants after the 3rd day. So considering there are fewer applicants I think that they will probably sift through them faster and be able to send the letters out earlier than they might have in the past. I hope that is the case cuz I am just really anxious to see what happens but you never know i guess! I'm not expecting to hear from them before May though because they have the application period open until April 15th.

Seattle Central Applicants Fall 2011
Yeah i just dropped it off at the post office in the morning. The reason I think there will be less applicants is because I went to the last info sesh before the application due date and she said that usually the last one is packed and she was baffled that there were only about 15 people there - most of whom we discovered couldn't even apply this year because they didn't meet the new requirements. I'm not really sure if I have a first choice - it's hard finding a legit source that can actually weigh one program versus another. I think if I get in to more than one program then I will just ask current students what they think of their program and go from there. Other than hearing that Shoreline had a really good program (which I didn't apply to) I haven't heard any concrete statements about the other schools, have you?

Seattle Central Applicants Fall 2011
Hi, I applied on February 1st as well. If your application is complete you should probably get in. All the mail has to get sent to the processing center in Federal Way so it doesn't really matter how close the mailbox is to the school. But it seems that since SC has increased the amount of requirements that less people will have applied this year. Nancy said at the info sesh that they can admit 40-60 students each year but they never know the exact number until way later.
