  1. Hi, I got a job but not as a nurse. I just did it so I can have the money to get more training and certificate so when I apply as a nurse they would already consider hiring me! lol. And yes, I also applied as a volunteer in a hospital. Congrats on passing NCLEX! best of luck to you!
  2. Hi! Yes I read the Saunders, but Im a bad reader. What I did was I listed the topics which I find hard or confusing for me. I posted it on my wall so I can read and study it everyday. I suggest you write down your weak areas and it is also important that you study very well on topics that are commonly asked in the exam. You can do it! Goodluck! =)
  3. I am authorized to work here. Anyway, thanks for the concern and the info. =)
  4. Hello guys, thanks for all the replies and the info- definitely helpful for me. I will surely not give up. I will apply personally to all the LTC's in my area this coming week, and if still I have no luck, I will be volunteering. Wish me luck!
  5. I am an international graduate. Graduated 4 years ago, just passed the NCLEX last month and can't find a job ( I sent numerous applications, resumes and I cant even get an interview). I am thinking of doing a walk in applications to LTC's in my area next week (since I am pretty sure that I have no luck in getting a job in a hospital), but I also thought of being a volunteer in a hospital. I know I wont do nursing tasks as a volunteer, but I was thinking of orienting myself to how the hospital here operates (since I am an international graduate). This is just so depressing. I am doubting that no one would hire me if I do walk ins because of my lack of experience and because I am an old graduate. Would it be advisable to volunteer first in a hospital before I continue my jobhunt (I am thinking it will look good on my resume)? But I also need to pay my bills and get a job as soon as I can. Refresher's course is not in my option because of the expense. I need some advise here.
  6. Hi Heidi-RN, Congrats! How long does it take for you to receive your license after the nclex?
  7. i graduated 4 years ago, i also forgot almost all about nursing by then. i started from scratch when i reviewed last year, and I failed nclex twice. Just got my quick result today and found out I passed. Just pray and have faith in God. He'll lead you to the right path
  8. I am a foreign graduate nurse, graduated 4 years ago. I am an RN in my country but I never worked in a hospital. I moved in to the US last year took the NCLEX thrice. 1st time: September last year. I used Saunders, I enrolled in Kaplan too, it was no help to me. But their qbank is really great. It is somewhat harder than the real nclex but it really makes you think. - 85 questions- FAIL 2nd time: December. I read Saunders again and answered Kaplan's qbank again. No good. 265 questions- FAIL 3rd time- NCSBN 5- week course- Its cheaper than other review courses but personally do not like it. It is very not user friendly and it has a lot of technical glitches. I read Saunders again- (yes I reread it again for the sake of reading it! When reading it seems nothing is absorbing in my mind. hehe) I bought Lacharity's Prioritization book- this is really worth your money! And the questions are similar to NCLEX. http://exammaster2.com/- this is also helpful and it s free! I also got some random facts file from this website (see older threads). I also posted the lab values and infection control mnemonics on my wall so I can see it everytime and and I can remember it.- 95 questions- PASS! Lots of prayers. I always pray because as I said earlier I am a bad reviewer so Im in dread need of guidance from above to focus on my review. I dont know St Joseph of Cupertino, I just read about him a week before I took my exam so I prayed for his help in my exam and he really did helped me! I also read a post here that as a foreign graduate nurse- nursing here s really different, we are really required to put extra effort in studying. the US graduates have more edge on passing this exam- This is so true! In my case, I almost forgot everything about nursing since I graduated 4 years ago and never worked in a hospital, I started from scratch. Im not good in reviewing but I have a strong faith. I dont even have the confidence that Ill pass so I just prayed even harder. When I went out of the testing center Im sure that I failed (In Nevada you can just test 4 times, Im about to lose hope), before doing the trick just prayed and said whatever God wants for me Ill accept it. I got the good pop-up, PVT really works! This website was a lot of help, everytime I feel Im about to give up I just read posts here- and it gave me the determination to continue to study again. Oh and by the way I also erased my facebook when I was reviewing for the third time. Facebook is such a killer that everytime Im answering questions, I always find myself taking a break everytime and just facebook-ing. It helped too (For bad reviewers like me)! If I passed NCLEX, i'm sure you guys can. Thank you LORD! PRAYERS- the most powerful thing. Thanks again for this website. I hope posting my story helps. God bless you all!
  9. Good luck to us PJg1120! This seems to be the longest 48 hours of my life. cant wait for tomorrow for the quickresult!
  10. thanks guys! hope this is it!
  11. I went to Kaplan's live review classes a couple of months ago and the instructor told us that you can determine that you passed with the last question. She said it doesnt matter if you answer it correctly or not, but if its above the passing level of difficulty you sure did pass (like the SATA questions), and if the last question is below the passing level of difficulty, even if you answered it correctly, you fail. According to Kaplan, this is like a hint for the test taker if she passed or not based on the last question. im just concerned because when I took the NCLEX this morning the last question was really simple and easy. Because of this I went out of the testing center definite that I almost failed. But according to the trick I passed. Now im relying on the trick and im praying it will keep on popping up until I got my quick results.
  12. thanks! for me lacharity and saunders are the most useful resources. i will post how i study as soon as i got the quick results in 2 days. the most important thing is prayer (lots of it!). this is actually my 3rd time to take the nclex and Im really hoping that the pearsonvue trick really works!
  13. congrats to you too bornleader rn! im still in shock right now. i dying to wait for the quick results and i still cant believe that i got the good pop-up!
