  1. No you're right. They do provde housing unless you're PCS'ing to Fort Sam after BOLC. Meaning we have to drive in everyday of training. Fun fun fun.
  2. Yea I'm sorry, Im not able to PM yet. Didn't hit my post quota yet. Haha. That's great you know people near by. I'm using the gym/pool here at my apartment to try and meet some people. There's a big military population here.
  3. I didn't know you were PCS'ing to FSH! Haha yea I found my apartment which is in Alamo Heights, like 6 miles from the FSH gate closest to the AMEDD building. Signed the lease as soon as I got off the plane last Tuesday. Hope you find a place soon! And I'll cya soon!
  4. I'm right there with you with the running. I'm hoping the adrenaline rush during the PT test gets me through it. My new apartment complex has a pretty nice gym so I've been trying to utilize it as much as possible. I know we'll all be fine. Verbal coaching is permitted. :)
  5. I sure hope so. My recruiter took me to get one but they were sold out at Ft Meade so he told me to find one at Ft Sam when I got here. How can I find out if I'm authorized or not? Thanks.
  6. Anyone familiar with Ft Sam know where I would be able to find Inspection Ready Berets? Why go through the hassle if I don't have to right? Thanks!
  7. The first PT test is within the 1st week and its just diagnostic so it doesn't count against you if you don't pass. The actual test is towards the end of OBC. If you pass the diagnostic then you dot need to take it again so you're right, Lunah, we better pass the first one! I leave on Tuesday to go get my apartment. So excited! See you all down there!!
  8. Lunah, I'm right there with you. Still no orders!! However, I did just receive an e-mail from my TAC officer saying that I'm enrolled in the Prep Course. Does anyone know if everyone without military experience goes to that class because this is the first time I'm hearing about this. The report day is tomorrow! And I'm in Delaware still... without orders. Kind of freaking out. Anybody have any info to throw my way?
  9. I used this Army Vet Corps website to decipher my orders [ http://vetopportunities.amedd.army.mil/hpsp/army101/orders.html ] Walked me through the whole thing! Is anyone familiar with the San Antonio area? It'll be my permanent duty station as of March and I need to figure out what's fun to do there!
  10. Does anyone know what day graduation will be on? It's before the additional job tracks correct? I'm assuming it's on Memorial Day weekend but I haven't been given the actual day yet.
  11. RNburnout, I would recommend practicing sit-ups in a modified position to start. Possibly wedge your head up so you aren't coming all the way down after a sit-up in order to avoid stretching your hip flexors completely. Or even stretching them prior to by getting into a position of hip hyperextention. Yes sit-ups are for abs but we all know that the hips get hit hard as well. I try to concentrate on contracting my core as much as possible to take the load off my hips especially because I have a previous pelvic injury. Lunah, thanks for the Couch to 5k suggestion!! My mile is now down to 9 mins so far. Just a little bit more to go!! My recruiter said my orders are in the mail and my report date is 23 March.
  12. Is anyone concerned about the PT portion of training? I just received my acceptance last week which only gives me a month and a half to really train. Does anyone have any workout suggestions? Thanks!
  13. Hey RN's! I'm an occupational therapist sneaking onto the nurse page because there's barely any OT's chatting about OBC. I'm attending the March training as well. Wasn't sure whether or not to get the uniforms now or in Fort Sam when I get there. I'm coming from DE so I'm flying out there but I'm going to buy a car and rent an apartment when I get there because I'll be schooling at Fort Sam until Dec 2012.
