  1. I have fibromyalgia and occasional flares of plantar fascitis. In my quest for the perfect shoe I discovered Sanitas (not Dansko). I found that shoes which are soft inside are less comfortable during long shifts tho they feel great when you first put them on. I wear lead and work long hours in the cath lab. You might consider giving them a try. They're pretty spendy but you can get them at the Sierra Trading Post web site quite often at a great discount. I've been wearing them for about a year and they're fantastic. Hope this helps. Good luck.
  2. So sorry to hear about your sister's difficulties. Has a sleep study been considered? I've seen patients in failure secondary to sleep apnea on several occasions. My best friend nearly died before anyone considered this possibility. She's a stubborn soul and never listens to me. She was placed on Bi-pap and her symptoms resolved very quickly. Just something to think about.
  3. Hi Natasha. I'm a CVL RN for the last 6 years. It's a great gig. Always interesting and I work with some amazing people. I worked in ICU for many years and when the cath lab opening came up I applied. At our facility a critical care background is required tho we do have one nurse who came from a telemetry background. Hours vary from hospital to hospital but we work 8 or 10 hour shifts (10's for me) and are on call at least one day a week and one weekend every 4 to 6 weeks. Training is done in the lab at our facility. You just jump in and do it with someone as a preceptor for a few weeks. When you're ready they throw you into the deep end of the pool. Hope this helps.
