  1. Hello, I may be starting at a UHS facility soon. I am looking for advice on the pay scale in terms of base pay, shift differential, LPN vs RN pay, weekend pay, etc. I am also interested to hear about benefits. I would also like to know about the working conditions, etc. I am in NE Florida. Thank you :)
  2. He actually ordered nurse visits for CBT. We do have a MSW. This is a strange situation. I must agree. I do know that at psych hospitals techs often do CBT groups and sometimes nurses who have no certification, etc. do as well. I will do tomorrows visit, but it will be a "normal" visit. I will also call my DON and look at the Nurse Practice Act. Thank you.
  3. I caught Fila Fit Walk-n-Sculpts on sale at Kohls for $30! What a deal! They are like the Shape-Ups. Let me tell you. I love them! They do not hurt my feet at all and they are cute. I got the pink and silver ones. http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/shoes/brandsforshoes/filasport/PRD~613121/FILA+SPORT+Walk+N+Sculpt+HighPerformance+Toning+Shoes.jsp :)
  4. Hello, I am a home health nurse and my agency likes to send pts with psych illnesses to me because I have a Bachelors in Psychology. I used to work as a tech at a private hospital, but that has been quite some time ago. I have a new pt who is diagnosed with depression and anxiety. The doctor has ordered visits for CBT. I know I wll need to have homework assignments for the pt. I am looking for some ideas. Please enlighten me. I know that CBT is about allowing a pt to see that their thoughts control their feelings. I know part of the focus will also be on irrational thoughts and on the here and now. I remember two things from the groups I used to do: 1. Does it really matter? 2. And is there anything I can do about it? Thank you. :)
  5. How about giving home health a try on a PRN basis to see how you like it? You could even do that now with your LPN. :)
  6. Neither for me. I do not like the hospital environment (staffing, catty behavior,etc.). I think a doctors office would be hmmm...not fun. LOL I am not sure what my dream job is, but I do know I would like to volunteer or work at a free clinic for those who do not have insurance, etc. I would also like to work with the homeless. I had a chance to do so a few months ago, but the pay was so very low. I have to have a certain amount of money. Maybe another chance will come along with better pay. :)
  7. Hello, I posted this in Health & Stress Mgmt Forum, but did not get any replies yet. I am not in IPN, but I thought that maybe some of you all might be able to help me. If anyone knows the real answer to my question, will you please tell me your source and where I might find it? My friend says as long as your doctor says it is ok and it does not impair your practice it is fine to take it, but I am not so sure about that. Also, does anyone have an actual list of "banned" meds for nurses in Florida? Please help! I have been freaking out over this. Hello Everyone, Does anyone know for sure the Florida BON view on nurses who are prescribed and take Adderall XR as well as Straterra? I have been trying to get a clear cut answer on this for about a week. The Nurse Practice Act here is confusing. I have heard it is ok to take them while working if they are prescribed to you. On the other hand, I have also heard yes you can take them if they are prescribed to you, but not while you are working. Well, now that does not make any sense because it is my best interest, the pts best interest, etc to take them when I am working, etc. If there is anytime I should take them it is when I am working. Plus, XR stays around for awhile. In my view, I should be allowed to take these meds on a regular schedule as long as I am not impaired. I have to take my meds. It makes me nervous and concerns me to be working without my Adderall XR and Straterra. I am looking for a new job and I know drug screening will be required. If I take a drug test I know it will show positive for amphetamines. Will this be reported to the board? If so, how will they react? I hope someone knows the real deal on this issue. Thank you. :)
