  1. I was once taking care of a little old lady with dementia, who was absolutely convinced that one of our male nurses on the unit was Frank Sinatra. (He looked nothing like him, just to clarify) She'd hold onto his hand, gaze up at him adoringly and tell him how much she loved his records. Of course, by the time she was discharged, WE'D all taken to calling him Frank too, so we had a Frank AND Ava on the unit!
  2. I had a 15 year old patient on the High Dependency floor I used to work on, who was admitted with pneumonia. He had severe asthma and once, during a pretty bad attack, I was trying to treat him with his mother and grandmother looking on. As he's coughing and wheezing away and I'm standing there, Meds. in hand, Grandma suddenly pipes up, 'Do you think you could go down to the restaurant and get me a sandwich?!' I don't know what planet these people are on sometimes!
  3. Hi! Yes, you could well be asked questions about ward scenarios, I was in my interview for the degree course at Manchester. I was asked what I would do in various situations, but they were mostly concerned with patient dignity, safety and areas like that. Just be yourself, don't be afraid to say you're not sure of an answer and just be enthusiastic. For instance, if you have a particular interest in an area of nursing, tell them about it. Good luck! :)
