if you go to CSULA, the best major to change into is Health Science. 98% of your lower division GE's, and 100% of your Pre req GE's from nursing are transferable. that was my back up actually. When I was doing Pre-Nursing, I was under Health Science, and all the courses that I took under health science were also pre-reqs into nursing. I'm a second year, and if I didn't make the program, I would have finished the rest of health science upper division, and get my BS degree in 1 1/2 years. but with that degree, I would be able to get my masters in health care administration, or apply to the 1 year accelerated BSN program at Mount St. Mary's. Prereqs: 3.95 English 101: A Critical Thinking Phil 160: A Psychology 150: A Chem. 151: A- Biol. 200A anatomy: A Biol. 200B Human Physiology: A Communication 150: A Micro 201/202: B-/A- (part of Cumulative GPA but required to finish by the end of spring June 22) Cummulative GPA: 21 collegiate courses (3.83 GPA) Dental Asst Experience Teas Score: individual overall score 81.0% but I only got 5 points out of 10 because they only grade reading and english in which I was placed in the 78/68 percentile respectively total score 23 points nutrition is a coreq during your nursing classes, but you can finish it right now if you like best of luck Lysander01! don't be intimidated by my grades! if it is not your grades that get you in, it is a great TEAS score. the way people are selected, if you have the top GPA or TEAS, you'll get in. You do not have to necessarily need both. You can have a low GPA and a high TEAS score and get in, or have a Low TEAS score (above the 40th percentile) with a high GPA and still get in!

since it is a 400 level course (HS 400), it is less likely that there is a transferable course for Stats. Don't worry about that, that course, along with 2 other courses that will fulfill the nursing GE upper and lower division requirements (i'm not talking about the program courses that are blocked-sectioned for us), will be explained in FULL detail during orientation just relax during the summer, we finished all pre reqs to get in! see you then!

nice! congrats! you a transfer? because all I have now are about 10-15 students from CSULA who got in, there are not that much of us, so if you are a transfer, I look forward in making a new friend! see you on orientation!

the 3rd wave of acceptance letters are being sent today and will be received tomorrow. they are currently calling people to notify them of their acceptances. if you didn't get a call, it is okay because not everyone who was accepted will be called, because there are a lot of people to call. good luck, and I hope you all can get letters tomorrow!

What I can tell you is that I took version 4, the cohort before that took version 4, and the one before that did the same.

No, CSULA is taking version 4 and not 5. I never heard of them changing it because they co associate with RIO HONDO CC who proctors version 4 daily. if anyone has official stuff that CSULA is taking version 5, let me know, because that would be new for the program.

they have been doing the same kind of ranking process every year- it is a type of ranking process that is appealing to transfers. CSULA is perhaps the only school that has been "transfer friendly." CSUF didn't even accept transfers this quarter! Perhaps if the reward of getting into a nursing program is great, then you ought to try your hardest right? because if you don't try your hardest, then you lose all of the shots that you don't take. Don't worry about the budget. It affects all of us everywhere. When the budget is low, morale is low. and when morale is low, competition is low. So the opportunity to capitalize on that will lead to success! And yes CSULAgirl07, I forgot to mention the 317 equivalent. thank you!

it's official! NTRS 250 is NOT a pre req for the fall. it is a Co req in the fall if you didn't take it. I went to the advisement to confirm. also, for those who had made it, and did not submit comm 150 and micro grades before June 22nd, your spot WILL be revoked. so make sure you guys send them on time if you all haven't! if you choose not to take these classes, please call advisement to drop your position in order for you to be eligible for admission in the fall of 2012 if you are not taking micro or comm 150 right now. failure to respond may disqualify you in the next application pool of 2012. But, if you have already taken and submitted these courses, just enjoy your summer

I'll find out first from advisement before I make the decision in taking it. after spring, I will be finished with all lower division and all upper division general education requirements. (not upper division nursing requirements and nutrition of course) since the program only allows you to take 10-11 units per quarter,(blocked sections), I really wouldn't mind taking nutrition along with it, to boost up registration status (over here, registration depends on the number of units that you have taken during your collegiate career: freshman registration: 0-43 units, soph 44-90 units, etc). the more units you have, the better your registration date will be.

I made the mistake of buying version 5 and come test day, although it prepared me well for english, I was ill-prepared overall for version 4 during the first assessment.... "I have a question about the bolded can you explain the numbers?" those are the percentile scores that I was placed in during the TEAS. Percentile scores are Different from Individual scores. for example, during the first assessment, although I scored 85% correct on the reading portion, but the average score nationwide was an 85.7% (70th percentile), I didn't score high. Hence why I got a 41 percentile. the percentile gives you points for admission, not individual scores. When you practice, your individual scores have to be above the national average individual scores, if you want to be in the 70th percentile or more 2011 national TEAS average individual scores Reading 85.7% Math 66.8% Science 63.0% English74.6% "they wont take the best reading from ANY test and the best english from ANY test, or do they take the most points you get from ONE test?" -most points for one test.

yes, you are allowed to re take the teas up to 2 times in an application cycle. so if the TEAS is in mid NOV, you need to take the TEAS if you did bad on it no later than late DEC. (be sure if your second TEAS is higher, to email Nursing advisement both results for the record so you would have peace of mind that they have it, ATI is not very well in sending stuff to CSULA). both of my results were received successfully, but I still emailed advisement for good measure but they only choose 1 high score for the TEAS. take my example for consideration 1st assessment reading/English: 41/95= 5 points 2nd assessment reading/English: 78/68= 5 points so if they take the highest score for English in the 1st assessment, they have to account the reading score on the first assessment, and if they chose the reading in the 2nd assessment, they have to account the English that was taken on the 2nd assessment. so in my case, I was at a stale mate. but if I had a 70 or above on my English 2nd assessment, I would have 6 points, and they would take that as the better TEAS score. no worries, I will talk to the dept and get it all cleared on monday many people in the fall 2010 cohort (last years acceptances) still needed to take those courses, and still managed to take nursing program courses. I know of some people who are in the program who haven't taken those courses yet! but since we are a new cohort, I'll make sure to get that cleared for us when I hand in my acceptance slip to the dept. I hope we don't need to take it before fall. If we do, the class will be under CSULA Extended Education (not government funded) which charges $271 per unit. the good thing is, NTRS 250 will be an online course, so we wouldn't have to worry about the number of people taking it, or going to school for summer. the bad news is that since it is a 4 unit course, it would cost $1084. I don't know about you all, but that's not cheap at all!

btw any transfers from CC who got accepted took NTRS 250 yet? according to the website, it is a pre req for the fall 2011. Because I know only MT SAC and ELAC have this equivalent course. so I really hope it is just a co-req because it is NOT offered in the summer CSULA if anybody could get back to me on that, that would be great!

here you go. The dates are messed up because there are different sets of acceptance waves. so your dates are subject to change

the supplemental application IS the online application that you download. You fill in the app, if you are a transfer, just check that slot if you are. lists the courses that you completed and register for the teas ASAP once the Fall 2012 apps are available to print online. when you are finished with ALL pre req courses for admission, you hand in your transcript to the department to confirm your pre req scores for the admission process. Although I didn't take nutrition, they will let you take the other pre reqs during your nursing classes, I.e. NTRS 250 ANTH 444, because you only take 10-11 units of nursing program courses per quarter 3 times (that's why it takes 3 years to graduate) thus, I'm taking NTRS 250 in the fall 2011, since it is NOT available in the summer, so I'm taking it as a co-req when I take my courses in the fall
