Liyah24, have you thought of taking a nclex review course? If you feel like content is a weakness, Hurst review is great. If you feel like you know your material, but you have trouble reading the questions and narrowing down the right answer then I would suggest Kaplan review. Yes they are quite pricey, but it's totally worth it. For now just take a short break and get back to it after the holiday weekend. Keep us posted! We're cheering for you!

Liyah24, I know how you feel....trust me! I failed exit hesi 4x before passing on the last try. You have studied very, very hard and you are almost there. Keep your head up. Have you thought about taking any Nclex review courses? That is what personally helped me get pass hesi and nclex. Hey but there still a chance that you may have passed though. Good luck dear! My cousin that went trhough LPN school as well took Hurst NCLEX review course and it helped her pass after the 3rd time around. I personally used Hurst and Kaplan. I prefer Kaplan, but Hurst had valuable tips as well. If review courses are too costly, Saunders Nclex review book is pretty much the gold standard for studying. Good luck and congrats to graduating

JUST TRY TO RELAX...the worst part of it all is over with. You got the good pop up and from what I have read on this forum over and over again, it is definitly a GOOD SIGN. It personally worked for me too! What state are you in? I'm in Texas, so I was able to pay for quick results within 48hrs exactly from my appt time of nclex. Keep us posted about your good news!

what are you doing to prepare so far? You know I studied to a point where I felt like I couldn't study anymore. Many people say that you never feel ready, but I felt that I was as ready as I could have been.

Well I started off using Hurst review, which helped a little bit as far as content, but it didn't help me pass Exit Hesi still. So that's when I decided to fork out more money and try Kaplan review. It was exactly what I needed. The trouble I had was not with learning the content, but more of learning how to read the questions and answers appropriately. Kaplan teaches you strategies on how to read the Q&As and find out exactly what they are asking you about. Whenever there was something I did not understand, I looked it up in my Saunders NCLEX-RN book immediately. Make sure to read over rationales from your practice exams. Very valuable. Do tons of questions and even retake some of the same exams over and over so that it'll stick in your head.

congrats to you cjb!!! job well done!!! i took the entire 265 qs too on the nclex exam this past saturday 6/18. it was dreadful, brutal, and long (6hours). most of my classmates cut off at 75-90. feeling numb and very unsure of myself, i just had to wait. so i did the pearson vue trick the next day and got the pop up message, so that was a very good sign. so finally today i found that: i passed nclex 1st try!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yeah: i not only want to give credit to myself, but to kaplan review course as well. i was preparing with hurst at first for the exit hesi exam but didn't seem to help me pass it. so finally on my 5th and last attempt on hesi i passed thanks to kaplan! i continued using it to prepare for nclex as well. their qs are very similar to what you see on nlcex. i scored from 50-70 on practice exams and they say that if you make >65 then you should be ready for nclex. a week or two before the exam i took practice exams >200 qs long just to get myself mentally and physically prepared just in case i do have to take the enitre 265 qs. the day before i went over some notes for about one hour. don't try to cram anything new in though. that will just confuse you. drive to the testing site the day before and get a good nights rest. eat a good breakfast and just take some deep breaths, relax and go for it! good luck to all the future rns out there! keep your head up and don't give up! :nurse:

I took Hesi 5Xs beofre finally passing with a 1100! I alaways scored around 800's and could not get out of that range at all no matter how much I studied. I started of using hesi book and hesi questions online. Then used Saunders. I used Hurst during my 3rd attempt and was informative, but didn't help me pass though. Finally on my last shot, I decided to do Kaplan. I wish that I would have done it sooner! Everyone learns differently and of course every review course teaches differently. Kaplan was great for teaching test taking strategies that I've never even learned before in nursing school. Even thought their review course is a NCLEX course, I guarantee that it helps for the hesi as well. I have been out of nursing school for a year now. I finally have a shot at NCLEX. Hope this will help. Please don't give up! You have made it this far for a reason and you're only a few hurdles away from being a RN. Goodluck to all the future nurses out there =)

Well I've done Hurst and I've been studying with the hesi book and questions. I've just signed up for Kaplan review now. I think I need help with test-taking strategies, so hopefully Kaplan will be beneficial for that. It's been 8 months now since I've been in school. This is my last chance so if I don't make it this time around, I will change careers.

Just need some guidance. I've taken exit hesi 4 times now. My 5th and final try will be in April. I've been scoring btwn 750-800 range. HELP!

OBplease thanks so much for your support! It's great to have any positive feedback =) . My school did not use hesi exams throughout the program. There was only one mid-term hesi (not graded) and the exit hesi required for graduation. As far as remediation, it consist of reviewing specific failed exams and just some studying advice from the instructors. I know some schools use hesi exams every two weeks. Our exams we're not hesi based.

Hi to everyone on allnurses.com! I need help! So this is my story...I live in houston, TX and completed the ADN program May 2010. However, I have not passed hesi yet. Which seems to be a very common discussion in this forum. I've taken it 4 times and I have one more chance to retake it in april 2011. This is my last and final chance. If I don't pass this time, I'm out of the program. All my hard work and yrs devoted to becoming a nurse will be tossed out the window. I'm starting this thread because I want to know if any other students out there know of any schools that offer the the hesi review course at their school and are willing to let students outside the campus to attend? I've called the evolve company and they told me that they have seen this happened before. Unfortunately my school did not offer it to us, which is unfair. I think if any school decides to utilize this test, they should offer the hesi review to the students. Since we're paying for it anyways. I've done hurst review, but not kaplan yet. If I can't find a school to let me sit in for their hesi review, then I will try kaplan. My score range has been 750-800, I can't seem to get out of that range. We need a 850 to pass. I even quit my job just to focus. My poor husband has been working alot of overtime just to make ends meet. I feel like a bad mother for neglecting my son just to study too. I'm just a mess right now. This test just makes me not want to become a nurse anymore even though I know I would nbe a great one. PLEASE HELP!
