Eastern Suffolk Boces LPN entrance exam
well, i dont mind, but my schedule is a bit crazy. where do you live and when are you free. i work days and my husband works nights, so i would have to work something out for my son. it was easy for the other girl because we took time out of work. I work on the weekend days too sometimes. if we can not work something out I could always email you practice sheets of math problems, that is what i would do with her most of the time. let me know.

Eastern Suffolk Boces LPN entrance exam
my friend took the teas test and did not pass on math, so they sent her for the prep class. i tutored her here and there during work time while she took the test. and she passed with a much higher score the second time. I went for the interview last week and the woman commented on my high scores being a help for the full day which i wanted. havent heard anything yet, just waiting now. they did send me right to financial aid, but they may do that with everyone. i did see the woman who interviewed me check off that she highly recommends me on the bottom of the sheet for the day program. fingers crossed. just waiting.

I didnt think the test was that bad, but I also tutored a friend for it, so i decided i did not need the prep course. the math goes up to algebra, percentages, fractions and most questions I felt were metric conversions. the reading was not what I expected. thought it would be passages, but it was more reading labels on medication bottles and answering questions. hope that helps. good luck

boces lpn program?
i took the test for esb on 1/11 and have my interview on 2/17. a friend told me it wasnt a real interview, more to see you in person and tell you about the program. also if you score high on the placement test you can chose day or night. I am going for the day so i can get it over sooner. I had also applied to stonybrooks 1 yr rn program, but not sure if i can do it because i have to work at least part time to hold benefits for my son. with the rn program there is no time to work at all. my friend is in the day program now for boces and she works part time on the weekends and nights for benefits, so i know it is doable. some people say it takes a month to hear back after your interview, others said they told them within a week.

Eastern Suffolk Boces LPN entrance exam
i took the teas test on 1/11 and I knew within a week that I passed. I have an interview on 2/17, which my friend who did it said it is not really an interview, more of an one on one info session. plus, the higher you score on the test the better chance you have with chosing full day or part time night. I will be doing the day program, get it over quicker. good luck

well, i have finally made a decision. after talking to a lot of rn's i work with they gave me the best advice ever for a working mom. i decided not to do sbu (still sad to say that) and go for the lpn program. i can still work and keep benefits for my lil man. by next july i will be done and working as a lpn. after i get settled into a job my friend told me about a program 4 others did here to get their rn. obviously you have to be an lpn first to do this. but they were accepted to excelior college (hope i spelled that correctly) which is a distant learning program. (not online). they actually send you books and study guides for each course you would need, you study at your own pace from home and then sign up for a test when you think you are ready. when you pass you move on to the next course. i am a lil ahead cause i did a&p i and ii and micro. after i passed all the tests for each course i have to go to a hospital for 2 days of clinical. that is it! then i take the rn test and i am done. i know this is real because 4 people here did it. one of the women did it in less than a year, others took their time. so i am happy to have a plan. good luck to all and i hope you all get into the program of your choice. i will be checking to see if you all get in.

Stony Brook BSN - Summer/Fall 2011 Applicants
Have not been here in awhile, just frustrated about having to wait again too. I really needed to know by 1/31 and now I have to make a real tough decision. This is killing me. If I decide to wait to find out about stonybrook in Feb then I will be wasting money in a course which starts 1/31. Or i can forget about Stonybrook all together, save money and go with my second choice, which is 11 month LPN. It kills me to do LPN and take a step back, but in a positive note: 11 months LPN, still work part time and keep benefits which I need with a kid at home, got a LPN job lined up already making more than i do now and the job will pay for me to go back and get my RN. UGHHH! or wait to hear back from stonybrook and if i get in, quit my job, no benefits for me and my family, but in 1 yr I would be an RN. And of course that is if I get in..... DECISIONS, DECISIONS, MY HEAD IS GOING TO EXPLODE. And, I did not apply to any other RN programs, because with a family SBU was the only realistic program close by and my parents agreed to help with babysitting and finances if needed.

Hello everyone. I also applied to the 1yr program. this is my only chance to go back to school, so the 2yr is unrealistic for me. so i am keeping my fingers crossed. financially I am only able to take off the yr from work to make this happen. I did not know you can check on solar, I just run out to the mailbox everyday hoping something is there. I did all my prerequisites and worked in a healthcare agency for over 12 yrs so I am hoping that will help. I also have a 3.2 in BA in sociology and a 3.89 in my masters for teaching. I think that a teaching degree will also be beneficial cause as a nurse you are a teacher to your patients. Cant wait to hear something. good luck to all of you.
