I suppose the exact cause of death would be what a person needs to look at. If the reason for death had nothing to do with direct nursing care, then there's nothing for you to do. Are they operating on people that are too far gone and have very little hope of survival anyway or are patients being ignored because of high nurse:patient ratios? Discovering what went wrong and who was responsible has to be examined before this question can be answered, in my opinion.

Ask for a conference with the instructors over our clinicals. Tell them you want constructive critism so you can correct your performance for a successful clinical in the future. I'm sure they will be open to the idea and you will gain invaluable information. Best of luck.

It is very normal to be frightened. Be sure to breath in through your nose and out your mouth...deep,slow breaths. Also,very helpful to visualize what you are going to be doing in the procedure. See yourself completing each step, successfully. You brain can not distinguish your mind's eye from actual reality. That is why you salivate when you think of eating a pickle. Your body gets ready for the pickle because it thinks you are eating it! Professional sports players have great visualization techniques seeing themselves being successful. People who stand at the plate and say, "I'm going to miss it, I'm going to miss it" usually do. Think success and you'll have success. Good Luck.

To Gina1982.....Did you seek help from other instructors? Why did this instructor come after you like this? Such a horribly sad story. So sorry.

Definitely ask your instructors to have a sit-down with you. They are the only ones who will be able to explain to you how far off your answers are and how to pull yourself back around in the right direction. Every teacher is different and every teachers exams are different. You have to learn how they want their tests answered. Talk with them and ask for any and all advice they have for you. I don't think you will regret it. If you don't conference with them, then I'm afraid you are going to build up such text anxiety that it will be debilitating. Best of luck.

It appears they have copied my endocrinologists medical forms. He's forms read just like what you've posted. So, instead of making up their own entrance forms, they've simply copied some from a local physician. I completely agree that this is crossing the line. However, I also know how your name can get a bad rap before you even start the program. Pick your battles very carefully, for your own sake. You've exhausted your resources for this battle with the Dean and the Commission of Accreditation. It looks as if you will have to either go along with it or forget it all together. If becoming a nurse is important to you, then you might have to fold on this and turn in your papers with a smile. Please don't get me wrong...I completely see your point. However, I also see your not going to come out of this smelling like a rose and I don't want your instructors to pre-judge you....and they will. Best of luck.

Will UPS work with your school schedule? You must not deliver because you would have to be out in the day working. If UPS will work with your schedule and give you tuition money to boot, then they seem like the way to go. Does it matter that you'll be quitting UPS once you graduate? Be sure they don't only offer money if you plan on staying with them. Good Luck.

I was in a nursing program when I first entered college. I switched to teaching because I felt it would be more of a "mommy" job and I had just learned of my pregnancy. Now, my beautiful daughter is turning 22 in May and I have retired from teaching and going into nursing....where I should have been this whole time. I didn't "hate" teaching 10 year-olds, but it wasn't my passion. I want to spend my life doing something I really enjoy. If teaching is what you want, then stay with it. Move to a shortage area if you have to, but don't give up on your dream. You will regret it. Plus, you'll never make it if you don't like science. My daughter tried nursing because of the money. We have a local hospital offering nurses a $20,000 sign-on bonus. Yep, you read that right. She could not remember all those 10 syllable medical terms and ended up changing to criminal justice. She is so happy now. Do what you love so you can love what you do. I just made that up.

I don't think you should lose hope about getting in this fall. I was wait-listed last year and was devastated. I live out of state from the college I was attending, so I knew I was coming into play after all the instate students were considered. However, my scores were so high that I thought I wouldn't have a problem. I was floored when I got the "I'm sorry to inform you" letter. BUT....2 weeks later, I got the letter congratulating my acceptance. Then, get this, after orientation and right in the middle of getting the CPR certifications and immunizations/drug screens, I had a major health scare and had to withdraw from the program. So, a 3rd student got the chance to enter. Things do happen and people can't enter or simply change their mind. If other options are out there, then it wouldn't hurt to expand your chances, but I believe you'll have a decent chance getting in to where you've already applied. Best of luck.
