  1. Hi. I have been an RN for a few years now and recently interviewed for a position as a school nurse. They seemed to like me, but said I would need to get an interim school nursing certification. Does anyone have any idea how I would go about this? Thanks.
  2. Next week I will most likely be let go from a hospital staff nurse position because of problems with time management. I am unable to finish my charting in a timely fashion and have been told I will be let go if this doesn't improve. This is an ongoing problem that I have been working on, but it is unlikely I will have significant improvement in the time remaining. I am very sad and disappointed about this, but I accept it. I am a newish grad and this was my first hospital job. I will likely go back to my old job at a small subacute facility, but would like to try to get a job at a smaller hospital in a few months. Will having been let go during orientation make it impossible for me to get another hospital job? Thanks for any help.
  3. Lee.mckinley, it 's horrible that your notes weren't delivered. I ended up mailing the thank you card, but I have no idea if it was ever received. Maybe send it certified mail? It might still not end up getting to your interviewer though. Applying, interviewing and waiting for a response from hospitals is horrible, but don't give up you'll find something eventually. Also, if your are in an oversaturated area you might consider applying a bit further away. The commute might be horrible, but at least you'd be getting experience. Best of luck.
  4. Yesterday, I had my very first RN interview. :) Now I know I'm supposed to send a thank you card, but I don't know where to send it. Should I just send it to the hospital addressed to the people who interviewed me?
  5. Hi. So I'm thinking about applying. Do they take RNs from non compact states? I'm from CA.
  6. I don't know when they update their system but it is sometime between 8 am (when I called the bon) and 11 pm (when I finally saw my name). There is no where on the site that tells you when they update, which was incredibly frustrating. Don't give up hope. The PVT is almost always right. Good luck.
  7. That's horrible 13grad71. There really doesn't seen to be any order in which they process peoples licenses. Some of the operators at the bon are really mean too. Don't give up hope. I hope you see your name on the board very soon.
  8. Thank you all. :) jorgesdestiny I just pm'ed you some info. Hope you see your name soon.
  9. I am sorry if I sounded negative. I didn't mean to. Having taken both tests it is my opinion that the pn is harder. One of the reasons I was so freaked out waiting for my RN results is that I found it so much easier, content wise, than the pn. This is not to say it is impossible for you to pass the pn because as you said god does things for a reason. I love being an LVN and think it is a wonderful career choice. I would advise you to look at review material aimed at pns because it isn't so much that the questions are different but that the way you have to approach them is. There are things that are outside the scope of practice for a pn and the test wants to make sure you understand those limitations. Best of luck to you.
  10. I have taken both the pn and RN and passed both on the first try. My opinion is that the pn is much harder then the RN. Each test is looking for something different. The content is the same, but the way you approach the question has to be different, so no you shouldn't study for the pn with an RN book. My advice though is that you should just take some time to evaluate your study approach and then take the RN again because honestly if you can't pass the RN I don't think you can pass the pn. Good luck.
  11. Thank you.
  12. After 22 agonizing days, my name is finally on breeze!!! I am an RN! :) My advise to those waiting in ca is to call the bon. It may have just been a coincidence, but I called this morning and my name finally appeared tonight. I am beyond relieved right now. To everyone still waiting, believe in yourself. As far as study tips: I love Saunders. I didn't make it to the end of the book this time, but it really helped me to understand content. Kaplan questions are very similar to nclex question. Also, the screen looks exactly the same, which helped me a little with the anxiety. I didn't find the Kaplan online review helpful at all though. Also, if you work full time and it is at all possible, take at least a week off of work before the test. I found this incredibly helpful. Okay, a bit long, but I am SO happy right now. Being able to come on the site and know I wasn't alone has been wonderful. Good luck to all of you future nurses out there. Don't ever give up.
  13. Yes. I'm getting the good pop up too and still have pending on the breeze. I don't know what that means exactly, but I think it changes if you don't pass. For me it's been saying pending since they sent the att. I just wish I knew why it was taking so long. If they needed something or had a question wouldn't they have sent something asking? I just don't know what to think anymore.
  14. I tested on May 21 and am still waiting. I have basically given up hope though. Good luck to you.
  15. Once your application has been processed for them to send you the ATT it will say status pending. You have to register an account and sign in to see the pending thing. For me it is on the lower left side of the pg.
  16. Okay. Thanks. I just read the other breeze thread too so I feel a little better. Everyone just kept telling me my name would be on the board after 48 hrs, so I've been a little freaked that maybe I didn't pass.
  17. I don't know if I failed. I was just wondering if the breeze would change my status if I had. Right now it says initial RN license by exam status pending. Will it continue to say that even if I need to retest? It has been 15 days and the wait is killing me.
  18. Hello, I was wondering if anyone know if the status on the breeze system would change if I failed. I still don't have a license number, so have basically given up on passing, but was wondering if the breeze would give some indication of my failing. After failing the nclex you need to apply to the board again, so would the breeze system show this in some way? I don't know if anyone can answer, but I thought I'd ask. Thanks.
  19. Sometimes it can be overwhelming trying to learn so much info. I think maybe you just need to take some time for yourself to do something fun and non-nursing. At some point you can get so overwhelmed and frustrated that you don't retain anything. My advice is to take a break then start doing questions about the content you are studying. For me anyway, the questions helped me understand the content. Best of luck. Remember, you made it through nursing school, so you can overcome this one last step.
  20. I am completely freaking out about this too. My name isn't on the board yet either and I took my test on the 21st. The pvt isn't 100% accurate, but mostly it is people who get the cc pg and pass not the others at around. My advise is wait and see. Not many people outside nursing know about the pvt, so just say you're still waiting. Best of luck.
  21. Thanks guys. I really am okay. I was just very frustrated and really just needed to get my rant out into the universe.
  22. Does anyone else ever feel completely overwhelmed when studying for the NCLEX? My test is in 15 1/2 hrs and I just can't read anymore. I have only read 755 of 1106 pgs of the Sanders review but I just can't do it anymore. For 4 day I have been doing nothing but reading and doing questions and I just can't take it anymore. Okay, I'm better now.
