  1. I have started to look at Memorial Hermann and St.Lukes. I have ACLS, PALS, TNCC and Canadian aeromedial flight certificate and Coronary Care Unit training. My main reason for relocating is to try something different. I really want to move into the ICU as well. I have given thought to completing the ICU program up here first then move down...any thoughts? How hard is it to get into the ICU program? Thank-you for all your help, much appreciated! P.S I would have send a PM but it won't let me yet... Thank-you for all your help, much appreciated!!
  2. I tried to message but I don't have enough posts to have that privilege. A little background...I graduated from University in June 2010. I have a Visa & passed the NCLEX, licensed in Minnesota. I worked medicine for a short time then moved to the OR for 5 months and didn't like it so I moved to Cardiology/CCU and have been there for just over 2yrs and love it. Busy and interesting. I'm looking to stay in Cardiology, preferably CCU (Coronary Care Unit; 1-2 acute patients) What are the job opportunities like for a Canadian? Would it be difficult to get into an ICU program? How are the people? If you could do it over again, what advise would you give? Hope your having a nice evening. Thank-you RedbombRNBN What were some of the biggest obstacles to over come?
  3. Have you moved to Texas yet? If so, what hospital are you working at and are you enjoying it? I"m looking to move in the next 6 months so any information would be much appreciated.
  4. Sorry for the late response, I didn't realize someone had posted. I applied for my VISA online and sent the all the appropriate documents, it took about 2months.
  5. Have any of the nurses has issues with getting paid on time? And do they have support from the agency if a situation were to arise?
  6. Thank-you for all the great information!!! I really appreciate it:) I do have my Air Medical flight certificate but haven't flown yet so I will look into it. I don't mind going for 6 or more weeks so hopefully Bayshore or Venture will work out for me. Thanks again!
  7. I'll give Canada Healthcare Agency a try. I"m looking to up for a couple of weeks at a time. What company are you referring to? How do you like working in remote Northern Ontario? Thank-you for responding, very much appreciated:)

I've been nursing for about 3 years in Cardiac and I'm looking to go to Nunavut to try something different. I've worked in fly-in only communities previously and didn't mind it (Northern BC). Should I apply to go with an Agency or through the hospital (Iqaluit)? Any agency in particular out of Winnipeg I should research? Any input would be much appreciated, thanks for your time:)

  10. I have passed the NCLEX and have my VisaScreen. I'm just waiting for my Texas licence to go through. Any ideas for wages I can expect and continuing education? Thanks for all the information, very much appreciated!!!:):)
  11. Hi I finished my nursing degree in Canada and have been working in med/surg/cardiology for the past 1.5yrs. I am hoping to relocate in the next year as I want to try something different. How is the job market for someone like me? Are hospitals accepting of Canadian Nurses? What are some of the hospitals I should be looking at? I'm thinking Dallas or possibly Houston area, leaning more towards Dallas as I have friends there. What can be expected in wages? What are patient loads like? How easy is it to pursue further education. I would like to start a Master's program soon. Any input would be much appreciated. Hope your having a nice day.:)
