Used Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and the 8.0. Downloaded that full power point onto the 10.1 (only because I didn't like the case I had and didn't feel comfortable writing on it because of this). I would then have access to any of the notes that the teacher wrote at the bottom of the ppt slide. I would then create (on my windows comp at home or work) a PDF of slides. Basically, I would save the PDF with 3 slides on a page so I would have room to write on the side of each slide. Fewer total pages and more slides right in front of me. I would then upload to drop box and then on the Note 8.0, import them into SNOTE, built in note taking app from Samsung that works with the S-Pen. I would then be able to write directly onto the power point slides that I imported into Snote. It was very easy to do and took less than 5 minutes to do that all (took me longer to type all this up then it does to get myself and 2 tablets ready for class) I would then record the lecture on one of the tablets and if there was something particularly important or that I didn't understand, I would then put the time stamp on the page we were on in the power point...the best part was that I could add a tag to the place in the note so I could actually search for any of my little tags without having to go through every single slide. I have an Spen that is bigger than the ones that come with the actual tablets, it is about the same size as a pen and it even has an "eraser" on the back. The tip is the size of a medium ball point pen, not a big stylus bulb. I loved it, it was so easy to do. You can then export anything you create as a PDF and then print it out. The hand writing looks just like my own. Almost everyone else that I was in group with had ipads and one would take notes on hers. One other person had the same tablet as myself but I honestly don't know if she used hers as much as I used mine. Now, the reason I have two, couldn't decide which size I liked better. I also have dropsync, which syncs my drop box on all accounts with 1 touch of a button so I would have access to anything that I did on one tablet on the other in 1 touch. I always that the 8.0 in my purse so I have all my text books and all my notes and recordings no matter where I am. I have a better case on the 10.1 now so it could fit in my purse but it makes it just a little too uncomfortable. But I use them differently. Sorry for the novel...I am exhausted and not too long ago found out the grades from the finals I took today and passed both of my nursing classes so I am a little delirious :) Plus I love talking about the tech I use because I love to have it all at my fingertips and to impart knowledge where ever I can lol

I also have a Galaxy note 10.1. I love the stylus, my hand writing on the screen looks exactly like my regular hand writing and there is no lag with the pen either. There are some really good you tube videos, one specifically of a girl taking notes in her Chem class and another of her writing on a power point. Watching those videos sold me on the note 10.1. I am even thinking of getting the note 2 as my phone now lol because I like the pen so much. I personally like Android better than I anything because I am techie and don't like to be locked down the way Apple likes the ipads to be. But that is all personal. I think we long as you can keep up with the teacher it does not matter. Pen and paper works for some where tablets or lap tops work for others. Don't fall into the "Apple has so Kent more apps" tap. That really isn't the case anymore. Every now and then there will be something missing but I have actually found Apple is missing an app I have or like more often. Plus I have also found that fees android apps sometimes cost on Apple. Take it or leave it but i am excited to try my note in class. Already have used it for small things and I have already created my own templates in snote with a full size note book paper to write on and then I can change the background to white and print if I have to. :)

The Twinsberg ASN evening program is not really part-time but you go to class two times a week most semesters and clinical on the weekend, I think. I think that the part-time bit is that you can take the non nursing classes in any order you want where are some BSN programs make you do them all in a certain sequence if you were starting as a freshman type deal. I have the information at home from the info session but I am quite sure that you still have to take the nursing courses in sequence just like the day time classes. I have also heard that the clinicals are mostly at Marymount. Forgot to add that they only admit in the fall and the deadline was Feb 1.

I can actually answer the question about admission. This program admits people every other year only in the fall. I think they do it this way because the accelerated bsn is every other year on the opposite year of the uh cohort. I think this allows alternative programs to start each fall without overwhelming the teachers for the alternative programs.

Thank you so much for the update! That is exactly what I wanted to know. Do people usually work other jobs, 40 hours a week type jobs while in the program. I have a graduate degree so that is also why I was looking at this program as I am not looking forward to the asn then the bsn when I could go straight for the bsn. I do have to work full time while in any program as this will be all out of pocket since it is a second degree and the masters. Over all I take it you like the program?

I know this is a slightly older thread but I read it back when it was new. I just ran across it again and thought I would add Trumbull County Coroner this is a county near me and they have nurse death investigators. So not quite the ME but I would guess that they actually do more of the leg work and dealing with people, living and dead, again I am guessing...now I just have to figure out when those four are retiring and hope finishing my degrees coincides with an opening

Thanks for the response. I have called the school and all the information sessions are on the regular program. I really just wanted to speak with someone who had experience with that program. Basically it is a Friday night and Saturday and Sunday schedule with all classes at UH case. Did you like the accelerated program?

Sorry to bump this again but the application cycle is coming up and I wanted to see if anyone had knowledge of this program. I was at the UH main campus for work seeing a client and I ended up speaking with the nurse manager of the floor and since I had her there I asked if she had any knowledge of the students and she didn't either. Just a little concerned with no one knowing the program and would like to know more real life experience from people.

I am sure that there are post-MSN certs that you can do too but I found those 4 in about 5 mins. Sorry can't give you job info from a personal experiences as I am not even a nurse yet but I do have an MA in psych and 5 years working in mental health with psychiatric nurse practitioners. They seem to like their jobs. I again can't speak to Ohio as much as the agency I work for has more psychiatrists then I have ever seen under one roof before. In my previous state all we had was NP's and they loved what they did.

I can not give you specifics as I am not in that program but I know people who applied to Seattle U's BSN and you do have to have a high GPA 3.7+. It is very competitive for the programs in Western WA. Like I said, I don't know anyone who has done the direct entry MSN though (well I did know someone who planned on applying but we only had one class together and I don't know if she got in or not). I would go to the Washington forum and ask there. Thanks ScottE, those were the things that I looked at too but I still find the Lakeland PDF to be a little lacking in information, so I guess I will just have to email them. I was hoping to get information about deadlines for application, if any, or if it is similar admission criteria to Tri-C (first come first serve). Thank you AssociateDegree, that helped out a little bit. Do you know anything more about their program, like the night program, is it M-F or Evenings/Weekend and do any of the classes start before 5 PM? I ask about Lakeland because someone I work with suggested looking at them, I think she went there but we didn't have a lot of time to talk. Thanks again guys/gals!

I did a search in both the Ohio nursing and the Ohio nursing program sections and did not find anything with information regarding this program. Does anyone know anything about it? Do they have an evening program at all? I just found the website to be lacking as well. Thanks!

Wow that is very true...didn't think about it that way. 4 now would be better lol, I forgot lpn goes for the summer but rn doesn't. I have all the extra classes completed so I would just have to focus on core nursing classes, which is about 9 credits give or take right? I looked up the classes again and the nurs 1450 at eastern campus has one that goes from 5pm until 11:30pm :/ again, if I was at eastern that would not be a real issue but I am worried about the drive from metro to home that late at night...and nurs 1600 goes until 11:45pm! Was just really wondering if they seriously keep you in class that late. I want to do this but I also want to be safe about it and need to plan, that is the only reason I ask.

No, I do not have my heart set on the open program, I just thought the shorter program would be better for working and I could start in august instead of January...but most ppl say to just go for the rn. Are you in the evening program? Thanks again for all the info.

Late clinical don't bother me since you are up and moving, I don't do well in class when it goes past 10 pm :/ Well, I might have to shoot for the LPN program then but do you think it would be pushing it now since I won't take the entrance test until later this month and it takes them about 6 weeks to get the scores? Arg I just can't make up my mind!

So none of the classes run that late? Is that only the RN program that has classes that late? Thanks!!!

I am having such a hard time deciding between the LPN and RN programs. I know there are people who say only go for the RN, but with bridge programs out there, I don't see the harm in starting with something smaller. Anyway...my question is, for those of you at the Metro campus, in the evening and weekend program, were you in downtown Cleveland at 11 PM still in class or did the instructor let you out early? My dilemma is that the Eastern Campus is 10 mins from home and about 5 mins from work but I would still have the chance of not getting in for Spring 2013 but I still have the chance to get in the LPN 2012 program :/ I just don't want to be driving in downtown to home at 11 PM at night and then having to get up for work the next day (yes I will still be working and don't freak out on me for that please, I have to pay for all of this out of pocket and no I can't get loans, I have an MA that cost wayyyy too much.) Is it really worth pushing to get in for the LPN program in August? I had kind of given up on it that is why I didn't take the test back in February :/ Thanks! Kfoss

Did you end up moving up to Spring 2012? I just moved into the area and I am looking at this program for the nights and weekends as I have to work full time but I have slight flexability in the hours that I work. (Don't want to hear people saying not to work as I have all supporting courses completed as well and would only have to take the nursing courses...not everyone can't not work, so again I say, please don't add that in.)

greenriver seemed to have some other weird requirements if i remember correctly. wow, i really have to go back and reread the website because i totally missed that they are a lottery. i got my aa from greenriver a few years ago and had a positive experience. how weird was the process?

I have heard that you can go part-time during the second half, which is the LPN to RN part. From what I got, last year, when I talked with someone there, is that there is no part-time option for the first bit. I can cope with not working full time for a year but pushing it to a year and half to two years would be a major struggle for me and my hubby.
