FAU Accelerated BSN 2011
katie62 I am there with you on the unpatient thing as probably are the other 898 applicants besides the two of us. I think last year's applicants were more persistant to get their response by the 11th last year. I have yet to call them but definitely might if I don't hear anything by friday.

FAU Accelerated BSN 2011
I just read the March 31st decision date on their website... that feels like forever from now! and also 88 percent as the average, that's really good. This must be a very tough cycle with the bad economy.

FAU Accelerated BSN 2011
I personally loved living in gainesville for undergrad. So many people your age with similar interests. So many people to many and to experience life with. A college town is really great, especially when you're 18 to 22+. However, I also decided not to apply to UF because I live and work in Boca and want to stay in the area. I love boca, especially west boca and wouldn't want to go any where else. I hope we get in!!

If you could do it all over.....
hey i'm a 22 year male recent BS grade with the option to go to PT school or accelerated nursing. I have a passion for medicine but I don't want to go to medical school so I thought I would enjoy being a NP or nurse anesthetist. I see the poster is only in their late 20's and I was wonder if the burn out is really that bad? Also I don't like the stigma guys get from women for being a nurse. I want to do it to become a medical missionary and there are so many women who believe nursing is only for females... that guys can't be compassionate which I truly don't believe. So what would you choose for my situation, Nursing and then going to NP, or PT school?

University of Miami Accelerated BSN Program
Hey lmaria3, congrats on receiving your MBA and your high GPA, that is phenomenal! I only applied to the FAU accelerted program and I'm praying I get in. It's the only school I applied to and the only program I want to go to due to location, price, and reputation of program. I received above 92 on all sections so I don't know about your situation but I thought you couldn't even apply unless you had an 80 on each section. I am thinking with so many applicants that they would take their requirements seriously but I don't know. I guess we will all find out February! Good luck and I can't wait to see everyone saying the good news here on allnurses that they were accepted! Also, I thought they only accepted 30 for the accelerated, where did the 42 number come from??

FAU Accelerated BSN 2011
That's really cool news about FGCU. I really like FGCU's location. However, all my money is in FAU because of where I live. I hope these two months go by fast so I can find out if I was accepeted!!

Career in physical therapy vs. nursing..
I was currently in PT school but decided to withdrew do to attending a very unprofessional program with very poor and negative faculty. I have currently applied to an aBSN program and hope to get accepted for May 2011. I also applied to PT programs that are very professional with great faculty but I am hesitant of going back to PT school after having a negative experience from my last program. I feel jaded. If I get accepted to nursing school I will most definitely pick that over going back to PT school because I want to be more involved with the medical treatment of the patient ( ie medications and real care inside and out). I just wanted to let you all know that aBSN and PT programs are both incredibly difficult to get into. I'm looking forward to hearing back from the school I applied to and am looking forward to a rewarding career as a nurse and then hopefully an NP or Nurse Anesthetist. Any one else go form therapy to nursing?

FAU Accelerated BSN 2011
Yeah it seems like UCF would be a great school for you to attend as you wouldn't have to move again as you would already be in Orlando. I know that Gainesville is centrally located, about an hour to the east for jacksonville and st. augustine and tampa on the west but traveling those distances can be arduous. I really wish FGCU had an accelerated BSN program because the fort myers and naples area is really beautiful! Good luck to you in the application process. As for now, it's a matter of playing the waiting game. You seem very nice and I hope when the time comes you make the appropriate decision. Hope the time goes by fast :)

Univ of Miami Accelerated BSN 2011 Applicants
Can you still apply for UM Summer Admissions after December 1st? I thought the website said the deadline was later. I started the Common Application but it just seemed very confusing. I wish they had a separate application, it would make it a lot easier.

FAU Accelerated BSN 2011
My experience of Gainesville is that Shands was a top notch hospital (I volunteered there for physical therapy) and that the town had everything. A ton of apartments near the school but also a lot of housing and communities on the outskirts. It's definitely not as nice as boca but also not as expensive as boca. I personally fill it would be better for a family to be in Gainesville then Boca Raton. Gainesville has some of the best schools in the state with excellent teachers as most are UF education grads. Boca Raton just has a lot of spoiled rich kids so it can be hard going to school at say Spanish River High when everyone has BMW's and Lexus as their cars. The GRE is a very hard and expensive test. I received over a 700 on the math but the verbal was killer even though I studied very hard for it. What is your top choice of the three?
