Moderate Sedation Tips
Thank you for your reply! I do have ACLS and moderate sedation cert isn't required. However, I do have a competency test to take before I can sedate on my own. I guess since I haven't done it, I'm anxious - and being new in a not so awesome team adds stress. Anyway, I will look more into it before I start my intra-op rotation. I just don't feel confident.

Lutheran School of Nursing
Hi I can't state if BSN is going to be mandatory for getting a job by 2020. They have been saying that before I even started nursing school. Hospitals do prefer BSN ready nurses since they are trying to get magnet status, but you will still be able to get a job (may not be your dream unit). Hours for class were usually 8 hrs/day from 0800-1600. Sometimes earlier depending if you are taking other classes. I think we had one day of the week where we didn't have any classes (during first semester) and it was reserved for people taking pre-requisites. After that you're on campus almost every day if you're not in clinicals (2-3 days a week). It just depends where you're at in the program. If you have any more specific questions, please message. Good luck!

Lutheran School of Nursing
Hi! I graduated from LSN in 2013. Since then I have gotten my BSN but regardless I got a job right away out of school. In regards to the program, I have nothing to compare it to, but I will tell you that it is intense. We start clinicals within a few weeks. The school is outdated and they don't have fancy simulation dummies, but all your hands on experience is in clinicals (make the most of it)! Due to the intensity of the program, we lost a lot of classmates throughout the courses. I would recommend that all your pre-reqs are done before you start the program. However I did have a few classmates that took them simultaneously - they were stressed but they passed. Due to the nature of your living situation, I will say it will pose a challenge. Is it worth it? That's up to you! Keep in mind you will have to drive to various clinical sites then sometimes drive back to school for post meeting or sometimes for class (depending on the rotation). If you have anymore questions, I would be happy to help! Just message me. Good luck!!

Ca license endorsement
Yesterday I emailed them to check my status since I was unable to get a hold of anyone on the phone. Today I went on breeze and saw that under "View Applicatipn Status" it now has my RN Endorsement AND RN Endorsement with temporary license application status. Both still say pending - open. I did not have the temporary license application status there before. So I hope this is a good sign? Did you sign up for a temp? I have a job lined up so I'm really hoping this would hurry! Good luck to us both!

Working While Waiting for Endorsement in CA?
Hello, I'm still in the process of waiting for my CA RN temporary and permanent license by endoresement. I'll be moving there from St. Louis in a couple weeks. We are primarily moving for my husband's job but unfortunate for me, I won't be able to work as an RN. What do you guys recommend for a job while waiting for licensure? Or what are you currently doing as a source of income? Is it in the medical field? What am I allowed to do patient care wise? Thanks so much in advance!!!!

Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA
Yes and don't forget to send out through mail the actual online form with passport picture and a copy of the Livescan request with their signature. Apparently just uploading and attaching it online is incomplete! I found that out through reading this thread!! Wishing us both luck!! When did you apply?

Admissions Process at Lutheran School of Nursing and how intense is the program
Hello! I'm an LSN graduate of 2013. Admissions was okay, I think I was waitlisted for about a year. In the mean time, I took some extra classes that I believe I needed (bio ethics). So make sure you have your pre-requisite classes in order! Some of my cohorts had to take other classes during nursing school. It was awful for them. Is it hard to get accepted? I believe not. It's just the waitlist that can be cumbersome. They offer some pre-requisite classes there and some you may have to take elsewhere. They are affiliated with Webster University but their credit hours can be expensive! I took my one class at a community college. Also, they accepted all my prerequisites from my other schools (I had moved from California). I had a handfull of my cohorts that stayed in the resident rooms. They were mainly from Illinois or had lived far enough where the commute was unbearable. I haven't heard any negative experiences from the dorm - but it's just not my personal preference. As far as safety, the school itself is safe, the area that it's surrounded by is probably a little sketchy. But as previously stated, I heard nothing negative. They have security from their affiliated hospital that drives around the campus. Entrance exams were easy. Math was nothing harder than division/fractions. I hope that answered some of your questions and good luck!

Lutheran School of Nursing
Hi, I will be graduating from LSN this June (that's the PLAN, anyway). I don't know much about other nursing programs, but what I can tell you is that I was able to work the maximum 16hrs a week. The program is very rigorous and you start clinicals 5 weeks into the program (versus other programs that start clinicals their 2nd year). Yes, the classroom labs are pretty obsolete, but you are exposed earlier to floor setting to really apply your skills. What I suggest to those that are wanting to work and go to school at the same time is to lower your hours during the first semester to get a feel of the kind of workload you get. There were a couple times where I found myself contemplating on quitting my job - it really depends on the person. To put things into perspective, my graduating class started with 45, and we'll be graduating between 25-30 of us. You will lose fellow classmates on the way but will gain some from those bridging from LPN-RN. Was LSN my first choice? No, but I'm glad I went. If you have any more questions, I'll do my best to respond! Or private message me.

For those accepted in Lutheran School of Nursing (LSN)
Hey guys! I'm the original poster (skong86), but I lost my PW, so this is my new username. Anyway, I got my acceptance letter in...May 2011. My story: I moved from California (going onto my third year on the waitlist) and my mom is remarried and is here in STL. I applied for Lutheran in January of 2010 along with other universities. I took my bio ethics/abnormal psych at Meramec and was having a difficult time transferring into a BSN program. LSN told me it would take longer for me to transfer into also since I'm not already a student and suggested that I take human growth and development with them. So that's what I did this past January and...TADA! I'm in. That's my suggestion for you guys if you want to expedite the process. Take your pre-reqs through Lutheran. Your foot would already be in the door.
