Any Direct Entry NP programs that will take a non-RN with a BS from another field
Ok, reviving a year and a half thread:) I'm currently taking my pre-req's for a 2nd degree BSN course(12 months; full time). Can i take a 2nd degree direct NP program instead? I have a BS in hotel management. And from this site(http://www.aacn.nche.edu/IDS/pdf/GENMAS.pdf) there are no such programs for KY...but after more than a year, is/are there any?:)

Excelsior Anatomy & Physiology in 6 weeks of review?
"I failed to mention that I'm 41, and had never had Micro, & Last time I was in a classroom was in 1993. The odds weren't in my favor to pass the first time let alone get a B. I was advised by many co-workers & family to take the traditional class for these reasons. The guided outline got me a B in the end, so it wasn't useless. Just not a fancy package. IMO, I wish they had them for ALL our Nursing Theory Exams. That goofy little booklet saved my behind from the embarrassment of failing. And the chance I would've given up because I'm older and would've lost my confidence to move ahead. " Congrats on the B INLPN93! You're the second person to recommend the guided outline, so i will give it a try. So how did you follow appendix B, F, and G? Just follow as they say or can you recommend any tips?(for the outline) I guess it is true that a&p will weed out the students that really want a career in the medical field because i struggled today. Now i know i need to take my time, and go back to my original study plan and follow EC's recommendations :) Studygroup is more of a review and if you don't have a science background, like me, its hard to follow.

"I would suggest Excelsior's content guide that is in the guided learning book you can get form the bookstore. It contains the content outline, and an awesome Q & A in it that lets you know what your weaknesses are for each outline topic. It goes in depth as to what learning objectives you need to know and how to learn them. It cost $30 with shipping. I used this for Micro and studied for 2 months about 2 hours/day & recieved a B on the test. I wished I'd used this for Anatomy, I studied twice as hard for twice as long and got a C. Just using the content outline that is free. :) Good Luck because the Excelsior tests are very in depth. :)" @INLPN93 - thanks for the reply, but IMO i thinkthe excelsiors PAID course guide was a bit useless. but who i am to talk i haven't even taken the exam yet martinis AP is overwhelming, i've decided to just use studygroup+the martini study guide(for more practice tests)+EC practice exams

Help.Cannot get a JOB!
Sorry for reviving a 5 month long dead post BUT i just started my pre-req's for an ABSN program, and talked to my aunt about it who is a nurse(25+ years) in nj. I am not here to discourage anyone but she did say that fresh grads are having a very hard time getting jobs recently, especially if you don't have any experience, and even told me to pursue RT instead, even PA. Is it really hard to find jobs all over? or just in a few states including KY and NJ?

Excelsior Anatomy & Physiology in 6 weeks of review?
@erika-thanks i've never thought of it that way @missy-the nutrition class i took back in 02 had a seperate LAB class, but i will clarify with my adviser again as nutrition is not available at Excelsior, and i was referred to another site which i forgot. i guess i can't make it the 2011 class, but anyway i study full time M-F but work on weekdays. Has anyone tried taking the AP with just studygroup, lisa's notes, and practice exams? how did you do?

hi missy77, i still can't send messages so i can't reply to you. Yes, the adviser was the one who referred me to excelsior, only the nutrition course would be needing LAB, but i already had that before but with a 2.0, i hope they do accept that if not then...oh well :)

Excelsior Anatomy & Physiology in 6 weeks of review?
Hi, I'm planning to start with a May 2011 class for an ABSN degree. BUT i still need to finish my prerequisites by then, and i just started reviewing The last time i studied was 7 years ago for my BS in hotel management...i am 28 years old now. Is it possible to take the excelsior A&P exam with just 1 1/2 month of reviewing(and get a score of at least B/B-)? because i bought the martini's book, study guide, and atlas...and i finish a chapter in 2/3 days and thats 29 chapters = thats like 2-3 months i would definitely miss the 2011 class then and will have to wait for the 2012 class... Is there a faster way to review and getting a score of at least a B in the exam? because this is what i do know, write down the checkpoint Q&A per sub chapter; then read it, continue until chapter is done then answer review questions and study guide. on average i get 87-92% on the practice tests this way. Theres still MICROBIOLOGY after then Dev't Psychology, Statistics, Ethics. And nutiriton(if they don't accept my previous 2.0 GPA). I will take A&P and MICRO one at a time, then take the 3 or 4 courses at the same time. HALP please PS-can just i do the studygroup + excelsior practice tests? (or with lisa's notes too) And still get at least a B?
