  1. Hey guys 5 min interview...isn't a question it's more like they assess your nurse assessment through a scenario. ..good luck guys :)
  2. Thanks everybody for your input...I really appreciate your time I am eager to learn as much as I can to help when I'm doing sick calls and helping people who are using inhalers for the first time. I also speak Spanish so I want to be more familiar so I can educate our Spanish speaking better.
  3. Hey guys ...I am currently working at an asthma and allergy clinic and am a new grad, I know the basic as far a asthma but I was wondering if anybody knew of any good continuing ed class that might be helpful or website/ resources to get familiar with? Thanks in advance
  4. Hello I'm a recent rn grad w/ associate degree I have a bachelors in health science which is public health geared...I was wondering if there was anyway to by pass the idea of getting another bachelor to become a public health nurse. Any advice?
  5. So I started working a doctors office where we continuously give Sq injects to patients (arms) and it seems like when I give them a lot of ppl say it hurts. Any advice ? I have tried pinching skin and going slow/ fast....does anyone have any advice for for me ? I feel unsure of my skills, and last thing I want to do is hurt anyone. Thank you
  6. Littman are better or at least for me I can't seem to hear anything with the cheap ones
  7. Blondie I went thru the same thing when I was in nursing school...i was second degree student,26 and had to move back with my parents during nursing ....they couldn't understand why I would want to go back to school for a ADN if I had a bachelors already or why I was constantly stressed about nursing school, working, volunteering or why i couldn't be around in family events...and like you most of my friends like 30 min away or were moving on with their lives getting married and having success careers...I went through a quarter life crisis...but taking to my sister and nursing friends helped. I mean I still didn't seem to have a life during nursing school but just know it gets better!I survived it and so will you...when nursing school is done you will feel relief and then on to the next challenge finding your first RN job :)
  8. Well I was friendly with most but mainly was around people that I considered friends in the program which I turned to if I needed help or to split study guide or practice skills with....but I studied better by myself because of my learning style. I think it depends on your style of learning. Sometime I thought nursing school was kind of high school all over again..very clicky and immature...but yet again I was in ADN program at community college with ppl in different age groups ...and since I was a second degree student who went to a university prior ppl tended to be whine a little too much at times.
  9. Neurotic I'm glad you've found something...I also got a job offer this week( finally!) ...it at a local clinic , but its something and a good start. Hope all goes well keep is updated on your nursing journey :)
  10. @Neurotic I am in the same boat I've been searching for 3 months so took on a part tine summer job as a cashier ...I am also volunteering and 3 different places just to keep my knowledge and skills up ( along with my sanity) , and working on certifications. I apply to nursing positions and had a few interviews but no luck so far, which makes depressed sometimes but I feel like something will come up eventually. So we just keep positive and keep applying. As far as apply for non nursing jobs I've started to apply to the business side of health care ....which can help me in the long run if I get a nursing job.
  11. I agree with sweet corn...apply to community colleges and junior colleges as well as universities because your more likely to get into community colleges and cheaper. That's the route I took ...I first graduated from a state university and then got into a community college for nursing. Plus if you do the EMT training some schools give you extra points for medical assistant, CNA, EMT/paramedic experience. Also look into Stanislaus state ABSN its relatively new so maybe less competive. take TEAS/GRE as soon as your done with most of the science are req's because it will be fresher in your mind. Gpa calculations depends on schools you apply...CSU count all are reqs GPA and all courses taken...but community colleges mainly look at prereqs. Get as many letters of recommendations as you can and stay in contact with references to you can expand network this will help you find extern/ internships and jobs that might help you in nursing school.
  12. Thanks everybody I really appreciate your feedback...I think I'll have to start expanding my search outside of California.
  13. Hello I'm a recent a grad I have been looking for about four months, I've had a handful of interviews but nothing has panned out...so now I'm starting to consider working with an agency or work as travel nurse locally but I'm not sure which agencies I should look into or might be good option. Do you guys have any advice or recommendations? Thank you
  14. Most programs that I have applied prefer and sometimes require you to have ACLS and PALS to even apply...but maybe it depends the area where you live.
  15. I think med surg was the one making calls today..but not sure if others..unfortunately I didn't get called.
