Like you I'm BSN graduate from Philippines and hold RN licence as well. Took my NCLEX Rn and become RN in NC but moved in CA without knowing that Filipinos having the concurrency problem. No school so far that willing to take me in to complete my MS & OB. I decided to apply to BVNPT it took about 5 months processing to get my ATT for NCLEX PN. took my exam on MAY 25th got my passing letter on June 5th sent my license fee June 6th now waiting for my license in the mail. Go for it credential evaluation is probably new thing for BVNPT, but I don't think it will be a problem, you will qualify for sure to take the PN. Goodluck!

Hello we just moved in Ca and try to endorse my license here from the other state and now I am facing the same problem. I needed additional coursework for OB and MS. xxryr138xx, you are right, that should really count, same thing from where I am from no LVN/LPN no CNA. But I think the job that I'm doing there is less hard than what you did, because we have too may volunteers it's ER department with OPD. there times where the patient load is crazy but there are times that it's not. I love working there but the problem is it's unpaid, i pay for my transportation and food everyday, did it for 7 months 5 days a week. Thanks guys for replies.

I wish that they could atleast give an assurance that I'm gonna get hire before i turn down the offer on part time jo. I really like the fulltime though, but part time is better than nothing at all. And the offer is already on the table. That's a good point, if we pass the NCLEX it means we need to prove were eligible first to take it. I even did the credential evaluation service by CGFNS as pre-requisite in taking NCLEX. I also have 7 months unpaid experience in my country, but since im not RN here at that time (but RN in my country) its not considered valid experience according to them. Hoping to hear from the HR soon. By the way i asked the HR how much is the expected pay rate the hiring manager gonna offer for new grad? Since they gonna hire me as new grad she said $20.11 If you don't mind how much is your starting? Thanks guys for your inputs.

Hi, I just need help, I been working as PRN (LTC setting) for the past 3 months and not getting enough hours from it to pay bills, sometimes there are weeks that i never got called at all. so I continue looking for Full-time job or part-time job, then this Full time job came, it's in rehabilitation center, got interviewed twice and it seems turn out fine, the hiring manager is very nice and she forwarded the process to the HR, then the HR realized that i'm a new grad with only 3 months experience from my current job, so they said i need to do a different process as a NEW GRAD nurse, I need to submit clinical reference forms and transcript of records in sealed envelop, since I'm from other country the process takes longer, it took 2 weeks for my Clinical Instructor to return the requested form ( from the day they told me i need to do the new grad route). My transcript of record are still on the way, it may take another 5 days to get here. HR told me that the transcript is only for record purpose and if they received the forms we can go ahead with the hiring process.They got the forms 2 days ago, but today they said they need to wait for the transcript (different from what they said before), I don't wanna be rude and rush them because it's not their fault why the completion of requirements take longer, not my fault either, it's just im from other country and getting the needed documents is not that easy My problem is the 2nd job that i applied for is a School Nurse in a charter school, went for interview 2 days ago and seems like it went well too, today the Nurse Supervisor called me and they want to hire me. She told me to call certain person to set an appointment to start the hiring process, document signing etc. Did not asked me if i accept it or not but said they are excited to have me, i don't know what to say, so I said if I can just call the girl after I discuss the things with my husband. she said it's fine. Today is Friday. So now i feel like i need to return the call by Monday, if I accept this job and then suddenly the full time job called and made the offer after they received my transcript, I'm afraid that I'm already stuck with the part time. the part time schedule is Tuesday and Thursday and 1 day that is flexible, while the full time is 3 days a week 7a-7p, self scheduling. the hiring manager said it's self scheduling, do you think i can accept the part time now then if the full time made the offer just let them know im not available on tues & thurs but willing to work any day of the week. sorry if my question sounds dumb, i just don't really know how this work and what to do on this situation, im afraid to turn down the part time then the full time won't offer me the job in the end then i have none ( its very important to me to get the a permanent job to pay bills). im afraid getting the part time then, the fulltime offer the job, but my schedule will be conflict and i cannot leave the part time after being hired for 2 weeks, its not good for my resume and for the person who recommend me. if you are in my situation what you gonna do?

Hello guys, I went for my peer interview this morning its with ANM and 1 CNA asking questions ang taking down notes based on my answer. I'm so nervous. It's really tough to find a job now a days I'm working as an RN (PRN) in a nursing home type of facility, the work is overwhelming at first but I'm getting used to it, but i want to leave that job because 1 LPN there seems like hates me, she is so nice to everybody but me. I worked 3-11 for this week in her cart and she work 11-7, I admit im still not as fast of other old timer nurses (LPN & RN) when it come to passing meds but I'm trying to catch up now and able to finish before my time is up but she will arrive 15 mins before her time and keep asking if im almost done, I'm done but still not done cleaning her cart and she seems annoyed, she makes face all the time. she will asked me question about the status of patient but seems like don't believe whatever i say and she will trun her back even before finish my sentence. If I forget to do something, even she seen me staying late that night but for some reason i still forgot 1 of many things i need to do, she will report me to the supervisor the next day saying I ALWAYS don't do the thing i forgot although it only happens that night. It's really tough! That's why i really want to get a new job because im so unhappy with my environment, i dont like to argue with her or confront her i just want to leave.

Thanks for the input. I don't really mind working occasional weekend or every other weekend that is fine.

@ kaksRN , i don't know yet, i will start my orientation on July 7 and was told that my training will last about 2 weeks, i hope nurses who was once worked as PRN as new grad RN can give us idea about how the training goes for them. @SN_2012 i think they said yes its fine to have full-time or part time and PRN jobs. Also it doesn't matter if its different hospital or facility, or different area or specialization. Fellow nurses, pls keep coming in, new grads like us needs your help. Thanks :nurse:

Thanks RN/writer, yes your right, i feel lucky that somehow i found a job and will be able to gain experience, because the longer i stay home jobless i think it's harder for me to find a job, plus wasted time, that can be use to gain experience.

Thanks TheCommuter, that's what I'm thinking too. I plan to keep my PRN even if I get full-time job (hopefully i could get one soon), extra money is good and honestly we need it. Thanks caliotter3 - yes I will keep that in mind, I know this sounds too ambitious for me to aim 2 jobs as a new grad, but i need it, I'm also hoping to get a 12hrs/day and 3days/wk full-time, that way i have extra 2 days of my weekday to be PRN so my employer know exactly when they can call me, that will avoid turning them down. Then I still have my weekends to be a full-time wife. Thank you so much guys for the feedback i really appreciate it, it really helps. Now I understand how PRN job works.

thanks for the replies STL2008,RN & caliotter3, it really helps, i was hesitant to accept the PRN at first because I thought it means I need to be available everytime they need me, so it means I could not get a full time job that has fixed schedule. So you mean PRN means "as needed" but I don't really have the obligation to be always available all the time when they call me? I'm worried about them calling me and I'm not available because of the full time job schedule (just in case i land on one). Yes im waiting to get interviewed from my other applications, gosh i never thought looking for RN job is so hard, I thought once you pass the NCLEX you are good to go, but that's not the case nowadays, one of my application have "forwarded to manager" status since 05/31/11 but until now no call until this PRN opportunity came, and I just couldn't let it pass because I want to work asap and gain experience and they are willing to hire me even i am considered new grad. thank you very much!

Hi I just got hired as PRN, i just can't turn down the offer because this is the only job that called me for interview from a month of looking and applying online, most of my application is rejected right away because i don't have any experience (other than being a volunteer nurse from my home country ER departments for 7 months),plus the bad economy right now that make most of hospital have hiring freeze. the facility where I'm gonna work will train me they said they want to give new grads opportunity which is nice & very much appreciated because how new grads will earn experience if no one will ever hire us? anyway long story short, my concern is, now that I accepted this job is it okay for me to continue looking around for a fulltime, (fulltime job is very needed so we can pay bills and I don't think my PRN can because the hours I'm gonna work each week is not guaranteed.) but im not sure if its okay for me to look someplace else while employed as PRN to another, I don't want to violate anything. Anybody have idea, or been in same boat, somebody who works PRN to one facility and fulltime to another and how your schedule works. thanks, I will appreciate your feedback.
