  1. Want to be really scared? Google layoff and Humana. Worst job I have ever had. Micromanaged, frequent layoffs and firings, and working from home is not a great benefit if you are chained to a computer with a headset working free overtime since you are salary. You will not use any of your nursing skills or background. HCMs solely exist to fill out surveys and careplans in order to bill the government. You call members over and over despite the fact that they do not want the calls. They are hiring now because so many quit for these reasons. If work at home with a large insurance company seems too good to be true, then it probably is.
  2. Ask about specifics: do you have a roster or will you be an "autodialer"? What are the expected daily metrics? What does the training involve? What happens if I don't reach the quota of calls expected of me? Word of warning: google any potential employer very carefully as what may seem like a dream "work from home" job may actually involve constant micro management that is an insult to your intellect.
  3. Heads up- mass layoffs at Humana at Home last week.
  4. As I've had to point out to my husband, I do the work in 3 days that it takes most people 5 days to do.
