RN-MSN program at Aspen University
Hi everyone, how are your rn-msn program going? I will be starting in december. However, I will be using financial aid. Did any of you use financial aid? I heard they still bill you couple thousand dollars when you use financial aid or stop you after taking couple classes and ask to pay if you want to continue with your classes. Is it true?

No wait list at my school
I graduated in December 2013 and passed the Nclex the first time. I personally liked the school, faculty and I made friends in the nursing program. The courses are hard and very stressful and challenging just like any other nursing program. Yvette and Angel in the office are very nice, helpful and efficient. Some teachers are easy going, some are very strict. If you do what you are told, study hard and don't fight the professors you will do good. our clinical rotations were at California hospital, Olympia medical center, white memorial, kaiser sunset, pacific Alliance, Hollywood Presbyterian. True the school is in a bad location of downtown LA but nobody bothers you. The nursing school is well situated and the have a great cafeteria. I had a great experience at this school.

Thank you thenightnurse456. I also believe it is too risky for me to work in the hospital at this time since I don't know what I am doing.

My new grad experience at an SNF
Hi, I am a new grad. I got 3 job offers. I am hesitating between working 1.at a registry that is sending me to an acute care hospital without any training or experience or 2. for a SNF/rehabilitation or 3. simply SNF After reading all these posts, I understand that rehab will be the best place to start of and gain some acute care experience. Then after about 6 months of gaining experience, I should do the registry. Any advice? I have to make a decision quick. Thanks.

New mom Passed NCLEX the first time!
I too was worried but i stuck to it and I made sure I understood the rationale. Do not memorize. I feel like Kaplan really helped me with the critical thinking and elimination process during the test. And please do the PDA la charity. It will help a lot for the prioritization, delegation, and assignment question during the test. Mainly, stick to your study plan and you will be fine.

New mom Passed NCLEX the first time!
I passed! Thank you Jesus. For those who have young kids, Yes you can! I looked for thread from mothers in my situation, but I could not find any so I decided to write one myself so New mother, I hope my story will help you. I took the NCLEX June 5th did not feel ready at all but I had to get it over with. I graduated December 18, was 7 month pregnant. I signed up with Kaplan a week after and was planning to take the NCLEX before baby comes ( February 20th). But baby came early (January 5 ) and I could not study since. I tried on and off but I didn't feel like I was retaining anything. Then April 24th I committed to study everyday for at least 6 hrs Monday through Thursday ( I had to hire a babysitter though not that I have the money but that was the only way to do it sometimes you got to spend money to make money). Friday through Sunday I studied whenever I could ( somedays I cried because my baby wouldn't let me study or sleep) but I kept going with my schedule. And I did it in 1 month and half. Stay positive and believe. You can do it too! "God will make a Way Isaiah 43:19" I used mainly Kaplan ( got low scores 40-50 the first time then 63-80 the second time) and did PDA la charity the last week before taking the test. I only used Saunders CD to do the SATA and nutrition questions (only did 75 of each because was running out of time) and used Lippincott's to study the ears, eyes and GI system because I felt like Kaplan didn't have much of these questions. For those who are doing Kaplan, I got inspired by this thread to study: https://allnurses.com/NCLEX-study-tips-my-story-t501945/?page=2

Glendale Community College (CA) Spring 2011
Yes hnguyen509, You won't find any info online. They don't answer the phone. You need to go meet with the counselor first, she will fill out the nursing prerequisites form sheet that you gonna take to the nursing office. Then they will let you fill out the nursing application form. You don't need to take an appointment with the counselor just walk in to the admission office n they will send you there. You must bring your unofficial transcripts when you go to see the counselor n if you get there by 9 am you can finish with the whole nursing application process and be put on the waiting list the same day.

Glendale Community College (CA) Spring 2011
Hi hnguyen509, go to LATTC in downtown LA. They go by the waiting list and they are taking application for Fall 2012 right now. I was in the same situation as you and I've been applying for a year in different colleges but none of the schools called me. So I went to LATTC in October and they put me on their waiting list for Fall 2012. Guess what? In November i received an acceptance letter from them in the mail for Spring 2012. I am starting earlier than I thought.

However, I received my acceptance letter today from los angeles trade tech for the spring 2012. I'm so excited and I thank God I also applied at the community colleges. For those of you who didn't get accepted, don't give. Reapply and make sure you apply at different community colleges too. I wish all to get accepted somewhere and start very soon!

I got accepted to LATTC for the Spring 2012. Yeah, I am so excited! I am filling good about myself right now. I received the letter today in the mail. Finally! I've been applying for a year now, and after 2 rejections at Cal state long beach, 1 rejection at Cal state LA, 1 at el camino college, and not getting picked out of the lottery last semester at Los Angeles Southwest college, I was getting tired of applying and was close to give up. Thank the Lord I didn't. I wish you all to get accepted somewhere and start very soon!

No wait list at my school
Hi hnguyen523, you can't find the info online. You basically have to have your anatomy, physiology, microbiology, english 101 and intermediare math done if you want to be put on the waiting list for Fall 2012. I'm not sure about chemistry but you have to go down there to meet with the counselor first before submitting your application to the nursing department. No appointment is required but make sure you print out all your unofficial transcript from all the colleges you attended and take them with you the day you go there.
