Any Private LPN programs in MD,VA,PA or DC
It's the time frame!! I just get frustrated with all the prerequisites because it makes a program that should only be 12 months into almost 2 years and honestly I'm just pretty eager to get it over with lol... btw has anyone heard anything about Standard Healthcare Services? It's in VA and is board approved and it has candidacy status for the NLN it seems pretty legit but I am still curious to hear someones experience that attended.

Any Private LPN programs in MD,VA,PA or DC
Hi! I am a PCT and I'm ready to go further in my nursing career but all these prereq's are driving me crazy I live in MD and although I've heard there are no private LPN schools here I was just wondering if maybe anyone has heard of one that jut isn't advertised. Also I've heard of a few in the surrounding areas like UDC in DC and LCCTC in PA, if anyone has had or has heard of a experience with these schools or any others please share them with me PLEASE !!! Also is it hard to get a job in MD if you go to a out of state school? Are they accredited and are the credits transferable? Any and I mean ANY info will be greatly appreciated because I am truly frustrated with prereq's and being a tech but that's a whole different topic lol Thanks.

Questions for lpns in Maryland?
Yea it's a job but hey something is better then nothing. Also $21/hr is pretty good I know a LPN in MD that works at a nursing home and she is making about $17/hr and I almost make that much as a Nurse tech!! But idk, I think I'd be afraid to work at a detention center, I didn't know LPN"s could work there.

Questions for lpns in Maryland?
I'm almost done my pre requisites for the LPN's program for hcc but lately I've been a bit discouraged. I keep hearing that LPN's are being phased out, now I know many don't work in hospitals anymore but now I heard there being ousted from nursing homes! So I was curious as to if there are any new grads that can tell me if there having difficulties finding work and if any vet LPN's can tell me if it's true RN's are taking over the nursing homes to now. Should I just skip the LPN program altogether and take the extra pre req's for the RN program. So confused PLEASE HELP!! Also what is the starting pay for LPN's in MD? Also this is kind of unrelated but I'm a cna and I was wondering if you get credit for that, what I mean is I heard you don't have to take the first nursing class? Its foundations of nursing practice, is that true?

Nurse tech pay?
"UMMC pays $15/hour during the week and $18/hour on the weekends. I assume you are referring to a nursing assistant or patient care technician" Yea I am referring to a patient care tech and 15 is good, is that with or without shift differentials?

Seeking info on patient care tech training class PLEASE!
OK now that I know how to post my own thread, yea and it only took 4 months:lol2:, I was curious on any feedback or experiences anyone has had with the Howard County Community Colleges advanced patient care program. I was thinking about taking this class next month (and on my own dime, I know Howard County General Hospital offers to pay for the class with employment there but its not until fall and I will be in nursing school by then) but anyway I just wanted to know if there are any challenges in finding employment at any other hospitals after you finish I ask because there are no clinicals and most other patient care or multi- skilled nurse tech classes are considerably longer then this one so i wanted to know do other hospitals except this training? Is there further certification needed? How much is they pay afterward because I'm a GNA working at a nursing home now but I wanted to take this class to make more money while in school and also to get some experience in a hospital. This class in comparison to others like it is the cheapest however its still pretty costly for me so I guess in a nut shell I'm asking is it worth it? Any input would be very very helpful. Including any nurse tech/patient care tech salaries in Maryland hospitals please. Thanks:)

Nurse tech
Can anyone tell me how much Nurse tech/Patient care techs make in Maryland hospitals? I am taking the advanced patient care program at Howard County Community College and I just wanted some insight on what to expect when I finish. Also for that matter if anyone else has taken that class can tell me anything about it for example was it difficult to obtain a job afterward and not necessarily at Howard County General Hospital ( I know they offer the program for free) or any draw backs or any positives to the program would be great. I was just curious because this program is a lot shorter then other tech/multi- skilled programs I've seen. I'll be grateful for any help at all, thanks

Howard County General Hospital PCT Training Position
I know this is a old post but i don't know how to ask my own question and this is the closest match to what i wanted to ask, has anyone gone through the program the "advanced patient care theory" class at Howard County Community College and not through the hospital (I mean had to pay for it yourself) and had trouble finding a job? I ask this because they don't do clinical experience there and I don't know if you get certified or anything. I just want someones option on it that's done the program. Is it worth it?
