  1. What do you mean by your application status changes? Also wouldn't it be coming under the previous email address that they sent you emails with?
  2. I personally like to turn the pages rather than reading on a computer and I think some teachers will not allow computers in the classroom.
  3. I don't know how it will be for your first semester but I know in semesters past the book store will have all your books together, maybe one or two that is not in the package and price is set accordingly. But that might have changed.
  4. I am a 4th semester nursing student at NCTC and the program is not horrible, it is actually pretty great. I don't know who have said it is horrible, but usually the students that complain about the program are the ones who want to argue with the teachers, are not doing that great and are not seeking help with all the resources that are available to us, and go against the rules of the program(any program has a couple). All the teachers I have had are great and will work with you with any problems you may have. Believe me they want you to succeed at this program. Last semester NCLEX pass rate was 100%. Now there have been director changes recently with in the last year that occured so the program has changed and when a program changes it goes through the hiccups but it does not affect the outcome of a students potential in the program. They recognize things when it is not benefiting the students and make changes accordingly. Also NCTC is changing their plan for Spring 2013 to include bridging with I think it is TWU and/or UTA in getting the bachelors. Most hospitals now will not hire an ADN unless they are in a bridge program for the bachelors or already graduated liscensed and obtaining their bachelors degree. I work for a hospital that is one of them. Just wanted to let you know, you should have not given up on a spot just because rumors that are told. Unless you know these people personally and when they went thru the program would make a difference, but it is always your choice.
  5. first off i want to congratulate everyone getting their test dates. good luck on the kaplan test. for the ones who lives in dallas and grapevine, i live in the dallas area and have been driving to gainesville for the last year and a half, if you can find a study group/car pool, it will definately benefit you as this drive can become quite monotonous. for those who get accepted to the program, i stress to take advantage of all your resources (mentors, setting up lab times to practice skills, sim lab opportunities, talk to your teachers if you are having difficulty, asking for help) that is what they are there for. if you find you are struggling and have not used your resources it is only yourself to blame. i recommend getting an nclex book and just trying these type of questions because this is what you will be testing over. it is a very different way of thinking. don't be scared, this program is not easy but as long as you put in the time you will be able to make it through. i can not stress about your mentors (they have information that will help you)....don't just discard them. once again....congrats and good luck. i hope to be seeing you at orientation.
  6. I know the class size for the NCTC ADN program in Gainsville is small, but I was wondering if any students in that progam browse this site and could help me with a couple of quetions? I would really like to know what the ADN program is like, how the classes/clinicals are, uniforms, etc? I know this will be disscused in orientation but I would like to know in advance if any one could help me out. I would greatly appreciate it.
  7. I have been accepted to the ADN program at NCTC also. Do you live in or around gainsville or will you be commuting? I will be coming from the Lake Dallas/Corinth area about a 45 min drive, but it will be worth it in the end. I'm so excited I can't wait.
