Honestly if I could go elsewhere I would.... especially if it meant a better degree. I need to get done with school asap and get a job because I am married with 3 kids. that is why I am sticking with ccac and not looking elsewhere. but if ccac fell thru I was going to washington hospital. I plan on furthering my degree eventually but right now, I need the fastest route for my family. everyone has sacrificed for me to go to school to begin with. Jason and others still looking- La Roche also offers an associates degree and accepts CCAC credits as well. Applications are due May 1st for them. And they do not have a waiting list.

I believe that Monica is the one in charge of all campuses so my guess is she will be the one to get back to you. Good luck- I hope that it all works out for you guys!! for those that are deciding between pitt and ccac- what campuses were you accepted to at ccac? and is there a reason why you are up in the air? (like have you heard bad stuff about ccac or pit etc?)

did anyone ever think of washington hospital also? i dont think they have an essay- it is all first come first serve, they accept ccac credits. that was my backup if i didnt get into ccac. it is actually a nice school and i have alot of friends who went there and got hired by the hospital. downside is ou only get a diploma.

oh I get the lottery thing now. The Allegheny letter said nothing about it. ours give you 2 dates and you have to call and make an appointment for one to do your registration. When I called for my appoinment I think she said they were every half hour. The whole lottery thing kind sucks though since it is basically the luck of the draw. what if you need a certain time/day? Well hopefully you get the times that you need! Good luck! Jason- I went into where we register to see what campuses had spring semester. I did not see calu on there but maybe there scheduling is different? anyways thanks for clearing it up!

Is Boyce the only campus to do the lottery system? Did your letter state that is how they do it? I am curious because I havent heard anything about it. Maybe it is because Boyces classes are both later in the day/evenings? also, I went on to ccac central and saw that only Boyce and Allegheny have spring sessions for NRN 101... does that seem right? i thought all the campuses had spring terms. maybe not....

I feel so sorry for you guys that are having issues. when I tried to appeal a decision before I was told to email Monica Kennison which I believe was [email protected] obviously I didnt get anywhere with my appeal, but it was a completely different situation. She was very fast with getting back to me- about 1-2 days if that. She was pretty nice. I know that she is the Dean of Nursing. Good Luck you guys. Jason... the reason the slots for classes are not filling up yet is because we had to make an appointment to meet with someone to register. I believe the dates are 12-15 and 12-20 for Allegheny. I am not sure about the other campuses. But obviously you guys have some time to appeal before we even have to register. I am sure that you guys will get in once they see their mistakes. Congrats to those that got their letters today!

Bobsdaughter- thank you for the help. any suggestions were to buy the stethoscope etc? also do we have to have any certain type of white shirts under our scrubs? like can we wear long sleeve shirts or turtlenecks or just tshirts? thanks again for the help!!

Pookalook- did you see anything about a stethoscope? do we have to buy one on our own? also did you see we have to buy nursing shoes? i thought we could get white tennis shoes....

I am now scheduled for registration, uniforms and doctors for physical shots etc! wow... lots to do. I am also working on all the other papers to mail out tomorrow. I went online and checked out our uniform choices. cant find the lab coat though.

i feel your pain- i stood by my door watching the road to see when he was coming. he is lucky I didnt drive around looking for him!

well go figure- everything else was disorganized! but hopefully dealing with allegheny will be different. I feel bad we are so excited and no one else seems to know yet.

I thought about taking my micro this spring, but decided that I would just do it over the summer so that I can concentrate on the nursing class. We wont have any nursing classes over the summer...

sorry- one more thing. i also heard that you can fail the drug calc test once also, but after that your out of the program. I have never really heard a pass rate etc. i can tell you this- if my letter is here tomorrow and it is good news, i am running out and getting a drug calc book and starting to study asap. math is my worst subject!

as for the blood tests i am not sure. the drug test though i believe has to be within so many days of starting class.... not positive though. i am going to check into the red cross for my cpr cert. I have seen it on ccac's schedule and i think it is like a saturday and sunday. I heard the red cross charges around $50 and it is good for 2 years. sorry i could not be more help!! i just want to know what that stupid letter says already!!! I also set up an appointment for thursday with a hospital school just in case. all my credits can transfer to there and it is pretty easy to get into... my mail wont be here for 13 hours and i fear it wont be in there again!

couldnt find exactly what i was looking for, but according to 1 site i found you need: criminal record check, child abuse registry clearance and fbi clearance. the shots/titers are rubella, chicken pox, mumps, tetorifice, and hep b. current cpr cert. and the thing that worries me is i saw that you have to do a drug calc test within your 1st 5 weeks of class. you have to pass with a 23 out of 25. and they dont teach it. you get a book to teach yourself it.

Hi all! I really hope that I was not lied to and they actually were sent out. I completely agree that the staff there is rude-I did find one nice person, but she doesnt know anything most of the time- and they should have to stick to their date just as we do. As for the shots.... From what I heard once you are accepted you get another envelope a few weeks later telling you what all you have to do. since we all know how they are with mailing stuff, I went onto a hospital school of nursing and checked out the shots they require- i would assume they are all the same or atleast somewhat close. so if i get accepted I am going to make an appointment asap and go by the list that I have to atleast get a little ahead of the game. Also if you read some past posts, they tell you how you need a criminal check etc. I will see what all I can find out about that as well and maybe we all can get a jump on it. I am going to go back now and make some notes and post again in a few mins with some details- I hope!

I agree that they are very unsymapthetic to all the applicants. they have no clue what it is like to wait or what some people have riding on one stupid letter. HOWEVER, I did hear from someone there-finally- that the letters were sent. i have no clue when they went out or if they just said it to shut me up, but supposidly they are out. if they went out today, most of us will have them tomorrow......
