  1. I graduated from the Shawsheen LPN program in 2009. I am still very close with the teacher's of the program. I think the program is great! it was very hard compared to other LPN schools but you come out learning so much. I also did this program because I have to work while going to school due to financial reasons. It is a great program and it is a great stepping stone to getting into an RN program after as well. There's not many LPN positions so I would obviously urge you to get into an RN program if you can. Or atleast go get your RN soon after! I am working on getting into Salem State's LPN to RN program after I finish all my prereqs. Best of all, Shawsheen just built a brand spankin new MULTI MILLION DOLLAR LPN/Medical wing!!! I went to the ribbon cutting celebration... it's AMAZING! they are also using Sim man dolls like a lot of RN schools now :)
  2. YIKES! I am an LPN at the moment. I have left my clinic nursing job to try to get LTC/Rehab/Acute experience to advance my career and help me get into an RN program. I just got hired at a North Shore Kindred. I start orientation next week. This post makes me a little nervous! Not to mention the Nursing Director said there's a chance I may be working nights until a day/eve position opens :-\ I pay is good, they matched what I make here at my current job + 4$ extra for eve/nights. I suppose I should not be too worried and give it a chance...? Ask a lot of questions and pay attention during orientation. They said the orientation is lengthly. I am hoping that is true. The only LTC/Rehab exp. I have is from back in 2009 in Nursing school. I do not pass meds in the clinic but do a lot of clinical treatments(wound care, dressings, phlebotomy, etc etc). I would never want to put my license at risk, that's what I am most nervous about. OH BOY!
  3. You will find a way. I make sure to have a memerbship to a 24hour gym so I can go at anytime, especially after work to blow off some steam haha. Also, you will be so busy you won't have to worry about snacking too much..
