Yes i loved my red book and so did many others. get whatever book YOU WANT. check out book stores like barnes & nobles and see what ones u like. The problem is that you are just learning the nursing process so its kinda hard to realize what is a good book vs. not so good.

shes already accepted, shes talking about the first nursing test. and as far as getting a 69...its not terrible, but it definately doesnt make you stand out. IF your other things make you stand out, than you have a chance. Depends on your GPA and how many classes you have completed already etc....

haha how could u miss him!? yeah he is totally right about the system. Its terrible. You are either freezing or sweating, its like we cant get an in between. We have one classmate that gets up atleast every hour to mess with the box. as far as complaining that the coffee cups are too small LOL i cant believe he had nerve to say that to the dean...i just had my head down like are you serious? We should be grateful we even HAVE a coffee machine! We didnt have that at our old school!!!!!!!!

No problem guys, i know what it is like to be in your shoes, hungry for information :) I am a computer nerd so this is no big deal for me well capstone is done feb 15. i will take the nclex within a month, then hopefully they have the one bachelor semester w/ ARIA all figured out so hopefully i can start that in may and get it over with!

you never need to bring your nursing books to class. they lecture off of powerpoints. those things are heavy so i wouldnt bring it

I never use the APA book. its too confusing. plus there are copies of it in the library if u need it. i do my own papers and just get Sophia the librarian to help look it over with me before i turn it in. After you do a few papers, youll get the hang of it. Just another book to collect dust. And about the 11th edition, i'd try it. A lot of people dont even read the books at all. I do though.

Dont go crazy w/ the books. Like, i actually got that stupid "thinking like a nurse" book and tried to read it before we started. the book did nothing for me and i was disappointed that the teachers NEVER mentioned it once. *waste of my money and time Also, the test success book, i bought that too, didnt have time to read it at all *waste of money The American nurses association ethics book sets (3)....*waste of money. I think they took one test question from it one time. The material is so dry, that i couldnt even read it even though i actually bought these books *waste of money The study guide books? I've got them too....used them my first semester and now they all sit and collect dust. I just dont have time for that stuff and it helps w/ definitions and stuff, but that stuff isnt on our tests...*waste I also ordered the NCLEX book they recommended and ive barely looked at it. You guys gotta understand that once u start, your time is so limited. Im not going to say this was a waste of money because ill definately use it when i study for my boards...but you dont need it now. What you need: Your fundamentals book, and your med surg books. We didnt start using med surg until halfway through the 2nd semester N11. You need the davis drug guide book, or anyone that u want to use that is up to date. You also need a nursing diagnosis book. Not the one they recommend unless YOU LIKE IT. You can get whatever one you want. We all bought the one they recommended and hated it and ended up spending the $60 to get another one that we love. I will find it after this post and post it for you. Get your white shoes, get your stethoscope of choice, and cute watch that you can easily see the seconds hand and you will be good to go. I wish someone had told me about these books before i wasted my money...so i hope you listen. If not they are great dust holders

Well im not going to make it to orientation guys...the only day I can go is tommorow and I've got errands to run because like 10 of us from school are going to AC for 3 days! I think the further into the semester we get, the harder we party! :cheers: :yelclap:

Look at what u transfered in compared to what u need in the first level of classes and see if the time/day is available to add on.

i almost took intro to patho and intro to pharm my first semester too. but then i decided to add art of theater instead of pharm. i was very happy i did because my fellow students who did do that were stressing and struggling with pharm and everything else. looking back now we all stress and struggle in some way every semester. and pharm sucks no matter what. but theres a new lady teacher and im unsure how tough she is with grading....i had her for nursing informatics and she wasnt crazy with grading. idk you guys do what makes you comfortable. And to finish the second part of your question PhilliesGirl05, I spoke to someone while i was there about adding art of theater and I had to email her and it was added on. But like I said, dont panic, theres plenty of time to get things figured out, but at the same time, dont hesitate to ask what you want to know during orientation either!!!!!!!

they did that to me my first semeter too and i added on art of theater. def add something, a humanity, anything.

someone asked what we did our two days. bascially you sit and listen to people talk all day, and yea it was pretty boring the first day we listened about hospital security and campus saftey, then listened to the dean talk then the curriculum coordinateor than we got our schedules and filled out stuff for that, then we had lunch, then we went over medical forms, financial aide, billing, student gov't, then listened to Sam our computer guy and orientated to the computer labs and the library. That was the end of day 1. Day 2 we were in the library again then the computer lab again to set up email accounts for contact with our teachers. Then we did ATI testing which isnt for a grade but more of a test to just see where you are at. Then we got to try on uniforms and that was it for us.
