  1. I was a floor nurse before going into education- boy was that a mistake. Students were allowed to do whatever they pleased. I am disabled now after teaching 3 yrs. I am lucky to work tele triage but you still get yelled at some and the benefit there is if they will not calm down you can say you will be glad to call back at a more opportune time. My ears can take it but my body got tired of being mistreated in education.
  2. So many times what you hear is from disgruntled students or instructors. Go to the KBN site and read their evaluation and remember school is what YOU make it.Some people want an easy ride and nursing is definitely not for the faint of heart. Take confort in the student who is causing problems- they WILL get their due and they still have topass boards- can't talk your way through those. Thank goodness. Hang in there and believe half of what you see and none of what you hear. from an old NURSE
  3. All nursing students and alll nurses should be a patient for a week before they set foot on the floor. Alsoif thereis any other job you can be happy at don't go into nursing. I love the field and have seen many changes in 36 yrs- not all good. I wish seasoned nurses would remember what it is like to be new and new nurses would show respect for older- more experienced nurses. They have already paid their dues and maybe just maybe they can give you a tip that will make your day better. Old nurses would not hover but would suppport and care for their new colleagues. Most of all the pt comes first and take responsiblity for YOUR actions. Good luck to all- happy nursing
