  1. Hey all, I wanted to post my stats on here: I'm unsure of my exact GPA (I have a recent BS Biology from ECSU, so I'm guessing my GPA from the past 5 years will be somewhere around a 3.1-3.4. My TEAS was a 77.8% but I'll be retaking it on the 7th. My A&P I grade is shaping up to be an A-/A depending on how this muscle practical goes. I had a few questions: 1.) Should I apply to the nursing program right now because I am transferring in so many credits, or should I wait until I get my second TEAS score and my A&P I grade? If I do apply now, will my TEAS score from January be the one reflected in the admissions decision in February? 2.) Should I choose GWCC or NWCC as my first choice? I'm leaning towards Northwestern. I realize it's a matter of preference but I just wanted to get some feedback. I can't apply to any of the other programs because my work (phlebotomist) requires me to work mornings and mid-day. Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone! Danielle
  2. You should also consider a physician's assistant program; it sounds like you have the patient contact hours and GPA to get in. I have a BS in Biology from ECSU and was considering PA school but can't afford it and am choosing nursing instead. However, I have at least 3 friends with a GPA around what yours is who have been accepted into PA programs. Good luck!
  3. Hi everyone, Here's my deal: I have a Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a minor in psych. My undergrad GPA was a 2.87 and I graduated in May of 2009. I entered a graduate program for teaching the following year and pulled a 4.0 for one semester, before deciding I'd like to do nursing. I'm now taking the few pre-reqs needed for most of the second degree program. I also work as a phlebotomist. I've also taken the TEAS, scored an 80, and am taking it again in 2 weeks. My question is - should I even bother applying? I'm aware that many schools with accelerated second degree programs don't even bother looking at anyone who has an undergrad GPA below a 3.0. I have special circumstances for my low GPA (family-related), but I don't want or expect this to make me an exception. Any program recommendations would be greatly, greatly appreciated! I'd love to stay in New England, but ideally I'll go anywhere. Secondly, how does everyone pay for this? I already have 63,000.00 in federal loans from my first undergrad degree. I know I'm not eligible for federal loans the second time around. Are you all taking out private loans to pay for the accelerated second degree program? Thanks in advance for any help or advice you'd be willing to give!! Danielle
