Hello everyone, I would like to know how would 12 hour night shift goes in med/surg unit in a hospital with a 6-7 patient. Currently I am working in a nursing home, which I hate because of high patient ratio 1:47 and also hate the management system. Today I did the interview with the hospital and they told me I will be given training for 4 weeks. I am in desperately need of job because I need to pay my debt. But I don't want to regret for switching the jobs. I am scared it won't turn as a wrong decision because I don't know how the hospital med/surg job would be since I am foreign educated nurse and working here just for 2 months. I appreciate any inputs.

I have been applied to several places, it's hard to get the job. Is Nursing home job considered good job experience or not? Confused, Confused, Confused, should take it or let it go? Hi Didith, I am also an international nurse, I did online kaplan NCLEX-RN preparation course (esp for foreign nurses). I took the exam after two months and I passed it. I believe you will find it helpful too. Good luck. Ritika

Hi Everyone, I am a RN with active RN license. I have been looking for the job for more than 10 months. I have done my associate degree of nursing from India and I have worked there for 4 years. I came here 2 years back, it took me more than a year to equivalent my certificates. I passed my NCLEX-RN in january 2010. I am PR of the USA. I am desperately looking for the job since Jan and I am ready to work in any health facility i.e home care, LTC, rehab center, hospice center, Nursing home, hospitals, schools, SNF. I have applied to many facilities but have not heard anything. I am really dissapointed, I don't want to quit this profession because I really enjoy being nurse. I can't afford further education. Please god help me, I don't have any choice and I don't want to quit this profession. Please please please have some suggestion for me.
