Devastated about my recent preceptorship placement in med surg
If you want to survive in nursing, you will have to thicken your skin. There is no guarantee that you will ever be able to even land a job in nicu. If you are devastated about a capstone, you wont kill yourself if you cant get a nicu job, right? You need to accept your assignment and get over the extreme emotion such as a devastation.

The best NİCU in San Diego?
Hello all, I have 2 years of Neonatal ICU experience in a 100 bed level 4 NICU. I am planning to relocate to San Diego, but I am not sure about where I really want to apply and work. I know there is no guarantee for a position when I apply. But anyway, I am looking for the best place to expand my knowledge and experience. I am kind of torn between Rady children's hospital (a level 4, but much smaller in patient capacity), or Sharp Mary Birch Hospital (larger but a level 3). I heard that Sharp is overall a good healthcare company. I dont know about the childen's hospital. And I dont know any other Nicu's there. Does anybody have any ideas about the NICU's there in San Diego? Any recommendations?

Oh wait!! I just checked breeze again after I typed above post to verify license again, and guess what? I was able to see license information this time. Looks like I am officially licensed in Ca as of tonight. I guess I kept on checking it today while my case was transitioning and I was being licensed. Yea, I got my license today 8/16. After 4 months of waiting, thank God!

Help! I sent paperwork in mid April. My breeze account showed my submission date as May 5th. My breeze account used to say "Pendig; open" until yesterday. Since yesterday, it doesnt show any status and says "no license information available" on top right corner of the page. I see a license number (not new, there has always been a number) and address change section is still available. But why no information anymore? I tried verifying my license to see if I got the Ca license, but no. I have been calling the bon since yesterday with no luck. I am getting worried. Has this happened to anyone? What may that possibly mean? I have been patiently waiting since April, and now all this.

Fist of all, I am sorry for what happened to you. Did you find out about this rejection by chance when you called to follow up? Or did they tell you about it via email or breeze account or something? I mailed everything in mid April, and still nothing yet. I wonder if I should call or continue to wait.

Holy cow, the processing times have been extended. I submitted my paperwork in mid April. I just hope to receive my license before the end of this year at least. It is so frustrating.

I mailed all paperwork around mid April. My breeze account used to say pending ; missing education history. But today, it says pending still, but when I click details, it only says "open". I also received a bunch of emails back to back from breeze today asking for an email confirmation which I confirmed. Does anybody have anything to say about this? Are they moving on with my case? What does all that mean?

Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA
I have a question. All these we are doing it is for "temporaey license", right? Once we have a temp license, what do we have to do to have it permanent? I am concerned, because I am in no hurry to move to Ca. I am worried that a temp license will expire before I get to come there. Does it expire if we dont work in Ca within a certain timeframe, or what is the temporary- permanent license case here?

Do we only have to fill where it says X on fingerprint card? What is ORI ? It doesnt have an X, so can I leave it blank? And "aliases" box has an X in it, but I have never had any other name at all. Do I leave it blank or just write - or something?

I finally received the card for finger prints in mail today. I initially applied for it on February 4th. When there was nothing, I applied for it again on February 25th. I guess this card came from my first request though. So, it took 25 days, just so anyone who plans to request the cards know. Now onto figuring out filling this card out and sending my actual application...

It is very frustrating here. I can't even receive the fingerprint card to get past the fist step and send my actual application. I requested for the card on Feb 4th. Nothing. I checked the bon website to see timeframes. They are already working on sending the cards that were requested 10-15 days after me. My card just never came. I just requested for it again. It is ridiculous I think. I am going to CA for vacation in 3 weeks. I almost think about getting a livescan while I am there. Anyway, I hope this card comes soon before I have to request it for a 3rd time.

Does Ca Bon mail the hard cards for the fingerprints to the applicant? If so, how long of a wait is that?

Hey guys, I live too far from Ca, so live finger scan is not an option for me. Bon had a submission area where I submitted my address, phone etc for the hard card. When I submitted, I got something like "please allow at least 2 weeks for a mailing request". So, are they going to mail me the hard cards, so I can fill them out and mail back? Is that how it works? It has been a week, and I am waiting for a mail. I just want to make sure that I am not just wasting time here, but I will receive the card in mail after that small message. Please someone, if you went through this, is this how it works? I am making this my first step. Once I get the card filled, I am planning to fill out the application and mail them all back together.

Relocating to CA; what are my chances?
I wouldnt prefer to, actually. I will come for a small vacation, but I don't want to go through job application and another job change in between.

Relocating to CA; what are my chances?
How does the interview & hiring process go? Is the distance a big disadvantage? They will see my address as my current state and wont bother with my application, I am afraid. Is phone interview common? Or do they usually want to meet in person even before the relocation. I would like to have a job before I make the move. :)

We can send the application form as a mail with the rest of the forms too, right? Because the actual application form online lets us fill it out and send. But some papers on it need to go to schools and all for transcripts. I was planning to print it, fill out with ink pen and get it done that way. I think it is acceptable. Other question; that form only asks for one school. I went to 3 programs total for ADN, BSN, and MSN. Which school&program do I list? My latest?

Yes. You have to pay to transfer that verification to them. Make sure you actually sent that verification and not only looked up for yourself. :) I am working on the requirements too.

Relocating to CA; what are my chances?
Hey guys, I am a RN with Master's degree in nursing administration. I have 5 years of experience, of which 1.5 year in NICU. I do love the NICU and plan to stay there for the rest of my bedside nursing career. I have always been a bedside nurse by the way; no interest in administration yet. I work in a level 4 NICU with 100+ beds in a children's hospital. I want to move to CA from another state in USA. I don't yet know which area, but San Francisco and San Diego are in my mind. My questions: Is the job market very tough for me there with my given credentials? What are my chances for getting hired in a NICU there? Would I have to wait a while? Please tell me good children's hospitals as I want to work in a children's hospital NICU again. How is RN hourly wage like? I know this state is expensive to live. What is an RN's life standard like there? (I am single with no kids) Any extra comments, recommendations, warnings are welcome. I would love to learn as much as can. I would appreciate it!!

Disciplining employee in front of other employees?!
I LOVE this idea. I will definitely stop the conversation if anything like this happens again in public. Stopping your manager and reminding her of employee rights would actually put the manager in an embarrassing situation, but it would be her fault.

Disciplining employee in front of other employees?!
Umm, I dont agree actually. To me, this was just a nicer way of saying, "Sorry, it felt embarrassing, but you deserved it. It is best to do it in private, but it doesn't have to be, in such case. If you dont want this to happen again, then don't do what you did again". She did not accept her wrong doing. She just apologized for my feelings. :S I don't think she got herself any lesson out of this.

Disciplining employee in front of other employees?!
Haha, mentioning "her child", I also told her something like "I felt like I was a little child being fussed at by her mom". So, I agree with you on that; it definitely felt like that. As far as including HR and her boss, I really didnt want this to be a longer and a bigger issue where in the end, I may become her target and lose my job. I didnt want drama. I really love my job and the hospital aside from all that. Bottomline, she now knows that I didnt appreciate that; I will not accept everything she does only because she is my manager, and I will voice my concern if I feel like I am mistreated; and that I dont agree with her managing style as a nurse who has masters degree in nursing administration. She doesnt have her MSN. I hope this incident leads her to do a self reflection and improvement.
