  1. My dentist does this! Thanks!! You saved my life!
  2. Cant explain stuff simply. Like if a patient asked me what aquired immunity was, it would take me awhile to explain. I try very hard but sometimes Im just not good at explaining. Do you think this will effect me? I understand but with. Visualization, so its hard to explain verbally
  3. Yea, Albert Einstein isn't full correct on that. I can't explain what I know simply, no matter how good I know it.
  4. I make flash cards and basically memorize the definitions. If someone asks me for the definition of a word, I'll visualize what it said on my flash card and tell them. Does anyone else do this?
  5. I understand it. Im just asking if both occur.
  6. So even if there is less sodium in extracellular fluid, the water in the intracellular fluid goes there?? Are you sure? I dont think it follows it all the time.
  7. If you have low sodium blood levels, how is homeostasis maintained? Osmosis and diffusion? Water will travel into the cell? Sodium in cells will move out to the bloodstream?
  8. I'm not in nursing school yet, but I love doing this! Hopefully Ill love being a nurse! I here a lot of nurses state that some people don't know how to use critical thinking, and can't apply the facts they know. I can use critical thinking for simple things. I just hope I can for more complex things., I usually just use critical thinking for simple things. My family drinks alcohol every week lol.. They complain about dehydration, constipation, migraines, etc. Their eyes are bloodshot after drinking... Did they have enough sleep? Dehydrated? What day of the week is it? Friday? This is very simple, I know... I do this kind of stuff everyday though before I even knew about nursing. Well, I have to explain to them why they experience those issues. Hopefully it's a good sign. I figured that it's hard to maintain homeostasis the older you get, so that's probably why older people are at higher risk for hypothermia. I also noticed old people are found dead in their houses when it's really hot. I guess it does show that I can apply facts. Can't everyone do this? Why do nurses say that some nursing students can't?
  9. Right side of my head is flat at the start of the ear.. How can I still function normally? Not sure lol. But medication for my ADD helps with this. I'm exactly like you lol. I'm glad I'm not the only one, I usually feel like I'm dumber than others too and I feel dumb when I try explaining things and it comes out bad. Sometimes I'll have trouble explaining simple things around the house. I still can explain though, thank god! I. Glad I'm not the only one, I felt so alone! I think if I keep trying my best I can make it! thanks
  10. Everything sounds crammed in nursing school even though your really not cramming.
  11. Was nursing hard when you first started? Like right after you passed the NCLEX? What was assessing and diagnosing like? What were you thinking?
  12. I wish I could replace those brain parts that are impaired. I also figured out why I get this blank mindess too. Since i dont know how my statement will come out, Its hard to find words that fit it. Just have a hard time thinking i guess. When I use critical thinking, I dont really think or talk in my head. Its more like when you see a bannana up in a tree and throw a stick at it without thinking. Thats how i actually think. Thanks, im going to find a speech pathologist in my area then. I have ADD and have been taking adderall for 2 months but it doesnt seem to help, maybe because its a very low dosage. Gonna see psychiatrist then too. I know that some people with ADD have similar symptoms, but it doesnt affect them as much. My mom and sister have the similar symptoms but they dont really have trouble talking. I just hope things get better for me. Im trying so hard and its like nothing is happening.
  13. Someone asks me a question, I get this blankness in my head. Especially when explaining or talking. This effects me daily and it's not from anxiety. I really don't know how my statement is going to come out when talking or writing. I just start, and from there, I figure it out. I can't think of the words my sentence is going to have . I can't think of what I'm going to say. So, how can I be a nurse when I have brain fog all the time? I don't know. I guess I'm going to have to try my very hardest and see a speech pathologist or something. If I'm asked what the urethra does First I'll say "Urine" Second, "Urine comes out of it" Third, I'll say "urine leaves the body through the urethra" "What is a crop" First, "bird's have crops" Second "They store food" Third" Birds need alot of energy so they need a crop to store food" If you guys say I can't be a nurse because of this, well I can't for anything else either then... I'm trying my very hardest and best. I'm not giving up. Just wondering if anyone else has this, and if there are ways to get through school with it. I finished most of my prerequisites, including Micro, and A & P 1. Both A's, it's just that I have this problem with language ugh. My family always goes to me for advice, I am really good at giving advice and explaining whats good and whats not. I guess like a counselor... I do explain certain things very well, just don't know why this happens for other things. I still don't know whats going to come out of my mouth when I'm about to speak though.
  14. The TEAS is more difficult than the GED. You can check out the TEAS Practice Test Problems at http://www.testprepreview.com/teas_practice.htm and see what you think.
  15. Wow a C. Thats pretty strange, I wonder why not greater. C isn't even trying. If you ask me, the right side of my head is basically missing except for the frontal bone. No I'm not exaggerating. I can't think in my head unless I talk and I have serious mental blankness. But still got B in Micro and A in A & P 1 & 2. I took 3 classes when taking those and I have dyslexia and ADD Try your best I proved it.
  16. Make sure you try your best if you retake those prerequisites. Don't let anything hold you back. Be prepared!
  17. Ouch, contact the nursing programs your interested in, and ask them if you can retake your prerequisites. Some nursing programs only allow you to retake one prerequisite, so I'm not sure, every program requirements are different. Sometimes college counselors can be understanding and will let you retake prerequisites without showing that you took them before. But you would have to have a very good explanation.
  18. Hey, don't worry. Your the nurse, your the one getting paid. You actually have a job. Don't care what she thinks, I use to care what others thought of me all the time. I use to even try to please them! My parents have friends who tell them how to live their lives! Can you believe that, ignore them, they have problems not you. You don't even have to try to make her understand. Look at her, don't take advice from her. Where is she at now lol Who knows, maybe she doesn't know. Some people judge, but it's because they don't know. You should tell her what you do, maybe she'll be understanding. If not, then she probably has nothing better to do.
  19. Yea lol happens too me alot. Or someone will ask me a question like: how many sisters u got? I'll say one when I actually have three
  20. Keep it to urself
  21. I'm very good at calming people down and stopping them from doing idiotic things. I don't know why but when it comes to things like alcohol, wanting to commit suicide, social anxiety, depression, take drugs I'm very good at explaining. I don't know why. I'll usually explain why it's bad for your physical and mental health. What happens as soon as you take those chemicals in and how it can affect your health in the future. Let me think: probably cause I have ADD lol
  22. Well I can talk normally it's just that your going to either have to here me stutter until I explain it clearly, draw a picture of it with keywords, or let me write it down. I can talk normally for everything its just that when it comes to little bit harder explanations I do go around in circles and rephrase. I have to visualize to explain pretty weird It's like every time I explain something, I have to repeat it because I either used the wrong words the first time or couldn't remember a word.
