  1. So basically I just have to pay for the classes on my own since I work at ST Joes and not SHC? That isn't a problem at all, just wanted to make sure it didn't affect my being in the program!
  2. Is FON 241 the class you need for nursing school at the community colleges as far as nutrition goes? I am in my final semester at ASU and am wondering what classes I could take there that would translate into the nursing program at SCC.
  3. I took 240 online at Phoenix college. It was a rather easy course as far as I was concerned. I would recommend it though, and the teacher was pretty knowledgeable. I can't remember her name though, it was a few years back.
  4. Oh I totally believe it. I worked with a guy who was in the PC accelerated program. He was a pool tech, so he only covered a few shifts here and there, but before I knew it he wasn't a tech anymore and was working on the floor as an RN. All this happened in the time it took me on the waiting list lol. Actually he was done like a year before my time was up on the list, so I know it flies. In the time it took me to get in I was taking classes at ASU finishing up a bachelors degree to hopefully become a physician assistant, but I am gonna go the NP route now. Makes more sense to be able to work in a graduate program then have to take out 100 k in loans to live. looking forward to getting started, glad to see you like the program, and I really like that schedule in block 3!
  5. Ummmm actually good question, they might include them. It didn't give a breakdown of what class was what and so on for the day. I have already completed all the co-reqs tho, so hopefully it does include them and I can get a little more free time lol.
  6. I received my packet today for the class schedule for the Spring semester for the SCC accelerated partnership program. It goes like this.. Wed 8 am-2 pm Fri 8 am- 4 pm Monday only on these days 1/31, 2/7, 2/14 7 am- 4 pm for lab Tuesday is clinical day starting 2/15-4/26 times vary so looks like we have Thursdays and weekends off and most mondays though mondays are the days set aside for tests. Also this is subject to change. Hope this helps for everyone in this program!
  7. Good information to know, I get most of my books from Amazon, so I will have to get a look out now for books!
  8. Ohh cool, thanx for the info! At least it looks like I will still be able to work weekends. Oh and I guess I will have to post a few more times to reach 15 lol.
  9. I took 201 and 202 online at PC. I really wish I had taken them in a classroom because I think I would have retained the information a little better. I am actually quite rusty concerning the material. I am starting school at SCC in the Spring, so hopefully I can get a refresher before it starts. I got B's in both classes, which isn't bad considering the material is tough, but there is no doubt in my mind I would have gotten A's had I taken them in a classroom. Oh and the labs are weird online, I imagine they are much better in class.
  10. How do you like your experience so far in the program? Just out of curiosity what is your class schedule like, like how many days in class and how many days in clinicals? I have taken the week off for my job so I can devote the entire week to studies, but I am working part time sat and sun 6-630 pm. Hopefully there isn't much weekend stuff, or at least optional to do maybe during the week. It took a lot to get my boss to work weekends. I would love to get a job there, but I already work at st joes as an EKG tech with full benefits and tuition reimbursemnt, 5 years in so far. In this economy I have a pretty good gig at Joes. I had heard that they do a nurse extern-ship there, but you are saying you have to be an employee to be eligible.
  11. I added you as a friend, but I have no idea how to send a message? Send me a private message and I can go from there. Looking forward to getting to know you tho!
  12. Good to know Camilla, I now know someone in my class lol! How exactly does the partnership work then. I have heard that you do an externship at SHC and in return they pay for your classes and books. Is this true? Does everyone in that program get to participate in the externship?
  13. I work at CHW right now and love it. I get great benefits and yeah the pension is good. I just got accepted to the accelerated SCC partnership program, but I think I will just pay my schooling and stay at CHW for the long haul. Plus I have worked here for 5 years as an EKG tech and will hopefully use that to my advantage when I look for a job.
  14. Hello, I was accepted to the SCC accelerated partnership program yesterday and am very excited. I do have a question though that I hope can be answered. What exactly is the partnership and how does it work. I have read other posts where it says you have to be an existing employee at SHC to be in the program. I am not an employee at SHC. I work at St Joes and have for 5 years. Does this mean I cannot attend their program? This is rather confusing to me. I really hope I can attend it as I have waited 4 semesters to get in. Thanks for any help you can give me!
